I just got my new summer travelling hat from Bob.

We discussed what would make a great travelling hat and we agreed with a milan duplex. Bob found me a nice vintage milan and when I saw the color I asked him if he could make the brim with a hand dyed color. I asked for a petroleum blue.

This is the result:

The brown wind trolley is a great addition.

You bet Speed. I really enjoyed this one. It is certainly now in my Top Ten list for hats that I have made. Thanks for being open to, and having cool ideas.

I look forward to seeing the photos from your adventure and hope you have a good time. Happy travels!

Bob just finished a project we started when he acquired some vintage hat bodies last year. He thinks they are from the 50's and he had to buy the inventory of a closing hat shop to get them. Many were moth damaged but about a dozen where deemed high grade enough for Bob to offer them to customers. There are some very interesting colors in the bunch and one of them was a blue I had to have. I asked for an early Playboy inspired hat and here it is:

I strayed from the simple Playboy bow a bit

Aeration vent and of course a new unique vented sweat

The handy hat hanger which I believe is going to be standard equipment now

Mikey Likey!

Fantastic! Great to see a Austrian / German influenced Cord Hanger. I think the earliest I have seen were from Johann Hückel´s Söhne / late 1930s. They might have been the first.

Yesterday I finally got to make the pilgramage out to Black Sheep's Hatwoks, and meet Bob "in person"...I've spoken to him on the phone for over a year, about my original fedora...A blue Borsalino about as old as I...

This hat finally got a hole on the pinch..kind of Depp-like... I never handle it by the pinch, but this lovely was my first fedora and the felt was so malleable and so much fun to shape....Well I over did my "bash" practicing...But hey....this hat was so alluring, I couldn't keep my hands off of it. And then I noticed the felt getting thin at the pinch. I also wore this sky-piece like every day, rain, sleet or snow....and well.....It died!

Your Honor....I plead 'insanity'.....I was just 'crazy' about handling this hat. I basically loved it to death...};^))

So yesterday, I dropped it off with Bob....I know it's asking TOO MUCH!!!
Theres the hole.....and then there is the shrinkage from non-stop wearing a 50/60 year old hat in inclement weather. So now theres way too much taper, where there didn't used to be any taper...And the reed on the sweatband was starting to cut into the brim from many years of snapping and unsnapping.....Hmmm

This is one that really should be 'hung out" for retirement...in a special place, were I can regularly pay my respects....I mean... I really think it was time to count my losses and replace....Enter Bob Jesse...

If it can't be saved....I still hold Bob's talent in very high esteem...That won't affect that at all....But if he can bring this one back...It will be "Above & Beyond" any normal hat work!

Please cross you fingers, my friends....Light some candles or throw some "bones on the floor" or whatever you believe in...}8^)) I can't wait to hear some good news from the good "Hat Dr."....

Will be back....

If anyone can do it, its Bob!
He has reconditioned a couple of my sad cases, and they turned out looking like new!
