It's not totally new Red, I posted it here once before. But it is fairly new to me. It's a velour traveler of some sort with a 3" overwelt brim, a rope band and a grosgrain sweatband. Here is a photo in better light,

Today I have it as a giant porkpie with the crown a tad under 4" as bashed and the brim 2 1/2" to the upcurl.

The flannel is vintage Woolrich wool.

Now that I see that great corded band I remember it. It is truly beautiful!

My wife is being discharged from the hospital today after a fairly significant surgery. It's also our 16th anniversary today.

Decided to dress up for the occasion and bring her a nice flowering plant. Can you tell I'm excited to get her home?

It was raining when I left the house, but I see sun outside now. Maybe I can go for a walk today without getting soaked.

Put on a new to me Donegal Tweed jacket and the top coat in case of rain, and.... looking through all the hats in the back bedroom... I picked the Penman steel beaver custom today. Love this hat, and it fits like a dream.

So glad your wife is coming home! I'm sure she'll love the flowers. Also -- nice lid! Worth & Worth, right?

Quite a statement with this one HJ! I think I could get into that style of brim, you sir, pull it off with aplomb!

Nice, Jack! Is that thing as smooth feeling as it looks?

I do like the brim and bow on that one, HJ. Great hat.

very cool

Thanks everyone! Your comments are appreciated. This hat does have a very nice finish & soft hand to it. Very dressy look, probably too dressy for me.
