Looks right. There might be a family member amongst them, hard to say. Is that war of independence or civil war?
Independence at this point. I can't remember where I got these pics, I've had them for a good while, but I'm reasonably sure it wasn't the civil war yet. Cork was a hotbed of rebels, as you know.

My grandfather was captured, there's a small chance he's pictured, could be two of them. similarly his eventual brother in law looks like two of them. My grandfather escaped jail by stealing a uniform and putting on a cockney accent, and when on the run in London worked on Wembley stadiums towers. He'd been counter intelligence so laid low for the civil war which he had no truck with. The brother in law was up to his neck in it, in more ways than one, caught TB from all the wet nights and died young. He was the famous one so more chance. I'll show it to my aunt over Christmas.

I've done a boatload of reading about that time and place. Fascinating stuff. I take it you live there now?
Not in cork, but I've family there. My dad was born there. I live in Dublin, grew up here but was born in London and I've lived elsewhere. Oddly my brother moved back to cork relatively recently. History is complicated. My grandfather can be written as a hero, but nobody ever mentions the fate of the cockney he stole the uniform from, or written as someone who wouldn't inoculate his children against disease because god. History is generally written by an editorial team employed by those benefitted by talkative survivors gaining. The real history contained in the white space between the type. The facts don't change but are lost.
