Dayum that Aero is cool as all hell!

It is, but I think that if it lost a couple of the stripes, and maybe the back gusset, it'd be better. I feel as though it's doing a bit too much.

Oh man that striped Aero BR is insanely cool! I LOVE the back yoke. Definitely feels like an old Bates in front... Maybe it's the super geek in me but that back...it alludes to something darker.

I saw that Aero Leathers Board Racer earlier, and it's a cool jacket. Here's a shot of its back. There are more shots and details on Instagram, but it's made from the blackened brown Vicenza, with a few custom tweaks.

Very nice. After years of not being keen on the cafe racer style, I'm now quite keen on the idea of one of these in cordo, or perhaps a bottle green. Probably have to sacrifice the split back, though, in order to be able to fit a pocket for a back protector.

Saw this jacket in person at a local Veterans museum.

Here is their description:

Aviator's leather Coat; long leather coat, stand-up collar with large plastic button at throat, left exterior map pocket and pencil pocket, leather loop sewn to left of pocket, 2 lower patch pockets with flaps, 5 button front , flap on right shoulder secured by 2 buttons, tabs on cuffs with 2 buttons for tightening, khaki wool lining, sleeves lined with OD cotton, and aviation roundel painted on lower left in blue red and white with "USA" below and "AIR S.A." above.

Maker Guttenburg Bros. Used in 1918.

It really gets me how many original WW2 A-2s turn up splattered or speckled with white paint. My gawd did so many vets really return home and paint their houses while wearing their issue A-2s. Guess so...jeeze

Having seen the ****py construction of a few original A-2s, it may be that the owners decided they were worth more than using for decorating, but you'd think there'd be a bit of sentimental value for them.

I would adore to have one of these transport coats. I think only Avirex / Cockpit reproduce them, but they are beautiful. Eddie Cochran wore one regularly in the fifties.

I remember being amused - after reading online demonisation of Hap Arnold by A2 fans - about pilots who had been issued A2s in 42 trying to swap them for B10s, because they wanted a warmer, more practical flying jacket. I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder! I can well imagine there being two extremes of guys who wouldn't be parted from the jackets they'd worn on bombing run that must often have felt close to ******* missions, and those who would sooner burn them than have the reminder. Not sure which way I'd have gone, myself. Luckily, I'm unlikely ever to have to find out.
