The Tonak is hard to photograph, but I love the way it creases (and feels) and it wears so comfortably.

I thought I'd read it was the other way - we were sending fur (beaver) to Europe.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.
From what I have read, you are right on about the beaver heading east but that ended before the 20th c. My understanding was that the depletion of the critters led to a crash in the beaver fur trade in the latter half of the 19th c. Plus... a lot of European manufacturers had moved to silk.

Here is a nifty write-up on the Danbury industry (with great pics from inside the Hawes Vol Gal factory). It dates to the beginning of the 20th c.

The piece starts at page 646. The author notes that imported fur predominated in Danbury at the time. I also recall seeing figures and articles in "Hat Box" about Stetson's massive fur importations.

Interesting stuff to ponder...

OK, that rings a bell and makes sense. Were we importing hare then? If so, that answers some questions we've always had about beaver content of vintage felt.

Both are great!

Entire look is sharp as can be. Just awesome

I'm loving the brim profile on that. Now I'm tempted to dig out an upbrim hat too for today. Thanks for the inspiration!

Great choice, my friend!

Loving the two tone felt. Such a sleek contrast

Nice!

Those Deckard models look so good

That's what i'm talkin about. Killer hat!

You've done it again, Eric.... I like all of them, but the derby is the icing on the cake!

W O W!!!! That felt color is nothing short of amazing! Wonderful
Thanks Justin.

You look so stylish there in the cold, Michael. And your Sovereign Twenty also has that great Mode Edge, too. Fantastic!
Thanks Tukwila. The Stetson is a nice hat for sure.

Thanks Justin. Gotta love some Stetson and cashmere.
