He's from my hometown.
For many years "Home of Wyatt Earp" was on our water tower, but was taken off because people saw him as more of an outlaw than a hero. Which is nonsense to me...
There's a lot of Earps still here. I'm actually good friends with one of them.

Like many of those old West figures, Wyatt was a complicated character. I think if we tended to view those people as such we would determine they were remarkable people in remarkable times, but with many human flaws, and products of the turbulent times. And the reality is, truth is stranger and much more entertaining than fiction.
