I would say it is my LW 23, not because it is so supreme quality ( well, it is) or it fits like no other, it is because the jacket is too damn expensive!! Cost me $1500 with potential shipping fees for fixing zipper!

Let's say someday I want to get rid of it, how much can I sell? $1000? Nobody gonna pay that for a used jacket, $800, $700? That's the half what I paid for. So that's the keeper.

Same as my test, cost me $1100 + $300 round shipping fees + shorten the sleeve length and sleeve opening =$1400!

Once you drive it off the lot...the cost alone should be enough to keep them all. But then the chatter starts. Yeah I'll lose xyz dollars but gain xyz fit. Then the hide choice kicks in. And. Here. We. Go. Again.
Oh but not me. I'm:

I just wish I was happier moving jackets I don't wear as much on- I think I am on the fortunate side (I have 6 Aeros [5 new, 1 used] and 1 Simmons Bilt), but I still feel fairly embarrassed at having 7 jackets, any one of which would last a lifetime (and the longer styles, while I like them in a theoretical way, probably look a bit desperate on a 40 year old man of average height- there are 3 like that), when I could feel sufficient with just the Highwayman and probably the Stockman.

Half is what you would get. LW is awesome- except for the zipper issue- hit and miss.

One has to realize the best jacket of the planet is always gonna be your next jacket. I remember how crazy I was when I want my highwayman, then half belt, the time I thought I am done the strange obsession with Vanson emerged, and I lost excitement when I wear my other jacket! All I want is Vanson.
I know it's the time to stop,until I get.............

It's a cycle. The keeper is the one that remains when the others move on. It could be fit, color, or a story that makes it special.
Absolutely man. If there's a significant event attached. That's the keeper. Then it's something more than clothes. I still have the tattered salt valley western shirt I held my daughter in for the first time. Can't wear it but for damn sure can't throw it away.
Haven't had a jacket long enough for a moment like that yet. They are just the skin I'm in at the moment.

My current roster are all keepers now, even though my eBay watch list is full of various jackets and I'm constantly browsing online stores.

Once I realised I had three Barbour International jackets (all the same jacket, with colour variations), as well as several more imperceptibly different Barbour designs - I realised that buying the same thing over and over again when I never wear half of what I've got, is the road to madness and ruin.

So I've forcibly stopped myself. I still look and read and research, but I don't buy.

Although I do still need a nice version of an N1 deck jacket...
