Looks like she's holding a Coke and perhaps a hamburger. Not sure how this ties in with the Las Vegas neon sign.

No caption to explain how she got on top or how she managed to get down.
I'm guessing the photo was taken from an airplane. You can see the
shadow on the ground below.

I am not convinced this photo is entirely on the up-and-up.

UPDATE:
Found this garish color image.

Checking the link this came up:

"This 1950 publicity-campaign photo-composite shows the newest and highest, 120 foot tall, neon-sign pylon
just installed (in 1949) at the Las Vegas Club casino. This Fremont Street sign was the tallest in town at the time."

(note the use of the phrase, photo-composite)
I call it
Photo-bombing":D

Other than the photo, there was no caption provided to determine its authenticity. :(

No, I think it's period, I just think she was inserted in the photo after market. Some sort of pre photoshop manipulation. There is something about the model that doesn't match the rest of the picture.

I replied to your earlier post before seeing this. Composite photo is a good term.

Great video (fun early clips of Atlantic City). Growing up in the '70s, I went to AC several times and - holy cow - it was run down as heck, but still going. Based on the video, I'll bet that's were I saw the James sign.

What's funny is I absolutely remember Fralinger's Salt-Water Taffy - you could watch it being made, which was very neat - and definitely had some as a kid, but don't really remember James (other than that the sign sparked some memory penumbra).

My parents - not take-vacation people in general - went to Atlantic City for a weekend when they were first married in the late '50s, which was something my mom talked about occasionally. From what I've read, the airplane killed AC as people started going farther away with Miami being the new beach-destination vacation by the '60s.

Here’s two "Composite photos” created on April Fool’s Day in my
neck of the woods! :(

My local newspaper thought it was funny.
In this post-9/11 era,
it’s doubtful any news outlet would run
such an April Fool’s story. But you never know! ;)
