Black shoes and boots - practical, necessary, or something in between

Well, since I got a pair of Double H boots, I have found that those are my most comfortable shoes. Something about having the heel a little higher than the arch and walking more on the balls of my feet. So got some brown Allen Edmonds lace up boots (kinda like Red Wing with the stiching across the toe), some Frye harness boots, and a pair of snuff suede Chelsea boots.

So, wearing a black 1/4 zip sweater with khakis. Wore the darker brown Frye boots. Would you have gone some black boots, maybe engineer or harness, to be tonal, or is brown ok? Substitute jeans for khaki, same thing?

Sounds fine either way. What shade were the khakis? Personally, I've always liked the way light-colored khakis look with black boots, probably because I remember my dad, a WWII Marine, wearing that combo on weekends. Also, there was a craze back in the early '60's of white or off-white jeans paired with black belts and boots, which I always liked (I seem to remember Steve McQueen sporting that look).

I'm in the same situation. I typically dress old school with cargos and my issued boots. However, I'm searching for a pair of black boots that will fit my standard outfit I wear every day. Originally, I considered doc martens 8 eye boots but I'm learning about these harness boots. I need to try some on this week before I drop the hammer on those docs.

I have "personal rules" that rarely if ever are spoken....they exist securely inside my head. Boots/shoes need to match the pallet of the coat and the belt matches the boot. If I am wearing a black leather jacket the boots need be black, and then brown boots with brown jacket. If I am wearing navy or forest green I can go either on the boot colour. The pants don't matter much khakis with black looks great.

See if Ebay has the Frye Rand Lace-up boots in your size. They were discontinued last year after I'd bought a pair in black. I liked them so much I found pairs in dark brown and tan. Really nice-looking and super comfortable. Worth every penny.

I really hoped to get away from lace up boots, but I'm going to look for those frye rand boots.
Engineer and harness boots really let me down with all the heel lift, lack of availability and mega high prices...

I take that back.
It just took the right pairs of engineer boots, my favorite insoles, re-setting the holes on the instep strap and some leather softener and I'm good to go...times two.

Rocking a pair of CK Ugilio engineers,
And a pair of Frye Walt harness boots.

Loving it!!
