I haven't bought a new jacket in over a month now.

I keep seeing jacket's I'd buy if they were a bit cheaper, but I don't need them.

This is a weird feeling.

All change feels weird.

Wish I had this problem. I almost never see jackets in the style, pattern or price I like. Have only bought one leather jacket in 18 months and I moved it on quickly. Too snug.

I feel you, brah.

She says it's because she's had only bad experiences with people who wear hats like that. .

Funny, my gf said the exact same thing. Apparently, it's been so bad she immediately labels any younger guy wearing a hat that's not a baseball cap (or a cadet cap a variation of one) a douchebag.

I, for a fact, know that's not true, 'cause of this place of course, but...

I haven't bought a jacket since October, but I sure maxed out my collection quickly. A very nice and rare size 46 Freewheeler's A-1 type jacket in natural horween almost had me, but I kinda like my GW A-1. That happens a lot, if I see something I like, I usually compare it to one of my GWs and think twice about pulling the trigger.
Now hats...thats another story. :)

When you hear a drunk saying that they have absolutely no craving for alcohol and they're cured from alcoholism, you can be pretty sure that the next binge is just around the corner. Just sayin'! ;)
Amen Jejupe.
16 yrs sober here. Had an old timer in the rooms once tell me. “Bowen, if you sit in a barber shop long enough, you’ll get a haircut”.
Applies to most things in life.

I read this quote the other day: "Don't spend your life chasing the perfect life [substitute 'jacket' here]. Take hold of everything you have right now and make the best of that. The pursuit of perfection leads to destruction."

Then again, I also saw this quote: "YOLO! Make the most of every moment! Live life like there's no tomorrow!"

So I guess one can either be satisfied with their current assortment of jackets, or carpe diem and continue acquiring and enjoying an array of jackets.

I'm personally torn between these two ideas.

What's wrong with enjoying both the hunt and what you have gathered so far?

It would depend on what one hunts for, let's say it's the perfect jacket. If this is the object of the hunt then the currently owned jackets are not perfect. It has been discussed much earlier but it generally is a never-ending quest. Only Galahad found the grail after all.
Interestingly, for a hunt to be truly never-ending it needs to be cyclical in nature, otherwise there is an ending. That mean as the hunter goes on, he will cycle through different styles, patterns, etc. and come back several times across the same points. So a good way to both enjoy what one has gathered and still feel the thrill of the hunt, is to keep some jackets and not resell them all (looking at you @ton312 :D).
Because, human as we are, we might get bored by a certain style at some point, and look at it in a new light later on.

Not sure this made much sense, it's getting almost philosophical lol

But to go on another point, I don't think that everyone is looking for the perfect jacket. I personally am just looking at the next step as mentioned earlier. It goes that way I believe:
- Get one good jacket (generally the first from a good manufacturer)
- Explore different styles and widen your horizons (such as some members here who start to appreciate a style they would have never thought of earlier, the grizzly is the most typical example)
- Start buying jackets for certain circumstances or themes (longer jacket for evenings, warmer jackers for cold conditions, riding jackets, etc.)
- Try to expand your horizons by looking for unique designs, leathers, etc.

In a nutshell, this is not the hunt for the perfect jacket, but a constant exploration. and this is never-ending as well.

In any case, the main point is that you can both enjoy the hunt and the jackets you have when you put them on :D

Then there are the few (?) like me. After discovering custom made leather jackets almost two decades ago and trying the few different companies who offered special sizing with different hides and styles over the years, I can finally say that I have found my easy wearing grail of a jacket. A heavy hide of unique finish with antiqued colors and unusual design. The satisfying attraction was immediate upon try on. I had been lost in that never ending leather jacket journey until I found my way home to Thedi. Yes red devil became my savior with his Tan buffalo photos. Now a grey buffalo is on the way too. Actually the only two leather jackets that I'll ever need. The Thedi XL fit me so well with only minor modification. It's like this Thedi was molded to me.

I stopped at the bank today while on my way to get license plates for my cars & bike. While standing in line a guy spoke up so loudly that everyone turned around. He said " My gawd I just love your jacket " ..! I said thank you. He asked where I got it. I said Greece. I ordered it on line. He stated that he would pay big bucks for a jacket like that. He went on and on until I finally got out the door.

I can honestly say that I am now content and finally fulfilled. The hunt is over and I am actually happy about that.:)

I have to say HD you unexpectedly saviored me as well. I’ve always admired your taste and collection. The Stuart is quite unexpectedly my favorite jacket ever. Aero, LW Vanson...you name it. So you’ve passed the torch and repayed the favor. Part of the karma circle that makes this place so delightful. Cheers Van, thank you and I can’t wait to see your next Thedi!

It's sometimes amazing how a rare ultimate jacket can seem to come along out of the blue. In my view the Stuart is your jacket and compliments you nicely. It can come across as somewhat dressy or bad ass according to what you wear with it. Every once in a while you see a jacket that just belongs to the wearer and really can't be improved upon.
