I don’t think so. I use the same method as TB. Actually Johnson Leathers taught me that. I know he moved so I suspect it was in an unlabeled box and carelessly opened. Shit happens. Life goes on. He’s made amends with me as far as I’m concerned. I may still pursue a legit repair but I couldn’t wait. I used some flexible epoxy and shoe polish to fairly decent results. It will likely come undone at some point and need to be redone but for now, I can have my Saturday cocktails without feeling glum.

This looks great. If it were me I'd just wear the jacket to death and when the lining needs replacing or the it needs a new zip, explore the panel replacement then. The scratch is really just an aesthetic issue, not worth sending across the sea for repair.

Thankfully it’s the underarm panel so it doesn’t have to be perfect. Matching the weight/grain as closely as possible will be the key. That may well be impossible as Horween batches are always unique.

*Pro-tip and I assume this community knows as much. Use a pen or pencil to open packing tape.

Use carkey to open package, pocket knife is to sharpen pencil, and peel apple only.
