There is an Arby's about 50 miles from here that has been there as long as I can remember. It had huge plate glass windows and was obviously a product of the 1960s. They tore it down a few years back and built a new one, but thankfully were wise enough to keep that same sign in place.

That's exactly how the one above is done, too... they built a new restaurant, but kept and restored the old sign.

There was an Arby's in my home town since at least the 1970s (maybe longer), only five miles from home. For the last 5-10 years of it's existence I wondered how they stayed open because they seemed to have so little business. Four or five years ago they finally closed it down, and it still had that old "light bulb and neon" style sign out front.

Around that time was when Arby's decided to expand their menu and add a variety of new sandwiches that look interesting (on the TV commercials anyway), but for us to try them we'd now have to drive three times as far. o_O Thanks Arby's!

(From Google) What is the difference between broasted chicken and fried chicken?

Broasted chicken is battered and cooked in oil as well, but deep fried in a pressure cooker. It instantly locks in all the juices by immersion process cooking all sides of meat at once. ... One of the main differences between baking and frying is the heat source used to cook the food.

Well, there you go - I'm in.

We have some local broasted chicken that is to die for ... and my wife figured that was the direction I was headed so we haven't had it in some time. :(

We're pretty careful about our fried food intake as well - it's a treat not a regular indulgence. The funny thing is that once we started doing that, we found that we can only eat small portions of fried foods when we do indulge as it fills us up very quickly. So we normally just split an order of french fries, etc., when we do have fried food.

All that said, if I see it, I'm giving broasted chicken a shot.

When I worked downtown our favorite lunch restaurant prominently advertised "broasted chicken". It was REALLY good and I wish I had some right now.
If the broasted chicken in your area is as good as we had you are in for a treat.
