I was just now looking at your hats, very nice. I hope everyone will take a peek at your work as well.

Thank you kindly Cindy! Compliments and comments are always appreciated, that's how we grow and learn. Still building up the portfolio of hats, it's what makes hatmaking exciting!

Hopefully this isn't redundant, but I've done some looking around on the site and for some reason failed to find a 'definitive' list of custom, bespoke fur felt Fedora hatmakers.

There is some crossover with "Western" hatters, but for this list, I'll try and stick to the ones that make fedoras specifically (and have them listed on their site specifically). Also, I'm avoiding the resellers for now, since this is specifically for those shops that make custom hats. If I've included one by accident, please let me know.

So I've compiled a quick list, as of June 2014, in no particular order:

Art Fawcett Vintage Silhouettes (Medford, OR)

Gary White (Buffalo, NY)

Powder River Hats in Elizabeth, CO. Just got my first Beaver Fur hat and I love it.

I’m d love to see photos of your hat and know what their prices are. Some good looking hats on their website. This got an “oooh” out of me:

I hope this isn't entirely off-topic but this thread IS devoted to custom hats, so here goes. Several years ago, there was a hat style known as the "Buckarette," with a wide brim and a high crown, offered by Jackson Hole Hat Company. At the time, the brim width was listed as 6-1/2 inches, IIRC. Unfortunately, they have since discontinued that style, because the extra-large hat bodies or hat blanks need for a hat of this magnitude are no longer being made. I've attached a picture of the hat in question as a reference. My question is, Does anyone know of a hat blank or hat body maker that can custom-make a hat body suitable for a hat like this, either in this country, in Mexico, or elsewhere? I have a long-time dream of having a hat like this with--please don't laugh!--a 7-inch brim AND a 7-inch crown! All other details would be the same as in the picture EXCEPT that I would like the hatband to be loaded with turquoise-studded conchos. So far, my efforts have proven fruitless! Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

Have you inquired with FEPSA in Portugal?

I found their website, and it looks like they might have one or two hat bodies that might meet my requirements. The problem is that they're a wholesale firm, as far as I can determine. How would I proceed if I wanted to order a hat body or two and have them made into finished hats?

Since you’re not making the hat yourself (are you?), you can have your hatter get the hat body.

I’m believe they sell to the public as well. You might send @Joao Encarnado a PM and ask him, he’s into big westerns and he’s ordered from FEPSA. You can also ask @humanshoes if he can help: he’s the hatter behind The Phoenix Hat Company and he’s ordered from FEPSA in the past.

How do I go about sending a PM on this forum? I'm still new here, so I'm not familiar with all of the ins and outs, so to speak!

Screenshots below taken based on accessing site with iPad using Safari. Other OS and/or browsers may vary slightly. In the upper right of the screen there should be a letter symbol. Click and a window should appear. Next click on "Start a New Conversation."

(New screen loads)

Populate fields and the click appropriate button when finished.

I use Tapatalk. Using a browser, you select the envelope button on the top. Then you click Start a New Conversation. Next you enter the username of the member in the participants field (after a few letters possible matches should show up for you to select from). Give it a subject/title, write the body, and send it.
