Thanks guys. The band width is perfect for the crown height & the contrast is just about right. It's the small 15/0 beads & it's a busy pattern. I like the combination a lot.
Nice save! Glad to see you didn't cut the brim. Would like to see pics of the sweat embossing & liner, & build info on the back side of the sweat.Here's an O'Farrell I picked up from an estate sale. It was crammed onto a closet shelf, smashed, dirty, and neglected, and hardly looked like it had any life left in it. But I knew from the fur felt, sweat band, and liner that this was a diamond in the rough. This one is from the old Durango shop.
So I gave it the Roy Rogers soaking treatment along with a good scrubbing of shampoo, set it up with string and let it dry to about 90%. Then I put it on my antique wooden hat block and let it finish drying, then gave it some steam for final shaping.
The hat band came from a shop in Marathon, Tx and has been waiting for the right hat for about 10 years. Once I had the O'Farrell blocked and ready the band went on with some light stitching to hold it in place.
This turned out to be an awesome hat!

and here's the finished hat. I changed up the crown crease since I already had several 'gus' creased hats and flattened the brim a bit for more sun shade.

She is Cherokee living in TN but I can't recall her name at the moment. She did a great job with it.
Ok, I think I may have gotten some bands from her too, on Ebay. THat one's killer!
