I'm now contemplating a shearling lined jacket in natural black sheep wool.
Go for it. The photo does not do justice to it, if you see it in person you'll see what I mean. As I mentioned earlier I was planning to get a normal white shearling lining. Then my girlfriend said "nooo, go for a black one". After I placed the order I regretted it a bit, until I received it.

With the exception of a few biker styles, we don't normally see someone getting another civie jacket in the same style as one he already owns. As a LHB owner I can understand why: it's just a really useful and comfortable design. Great pics, by the way: I never realized how much the style looks so much like a late '40's working man design. Nice to see one in black as well.

Indeed. I have two perfecto's and this is my second Half-Belt, my first one being a 30's HB. What I like in the half belts is them being so versatile; you can put them on with jeans and boots to go to the pub or better pants and dress shoes for something more formal.

That is an incredibly nice coat. Since I live in a warmer climate than you, my foul weather coat is a brown FQHH Teamster lined with moleskin which I wore today on a wet, chilly, windy day. Congratulations and well done!

Luckily the dutch weather, with virtually no summer, allows for leather jackets all year long, from lightweight vicenza's in the summer to this beast in the winter!

Wonderful LHB - the hide and shearling lining are perfection. I am partial to LHB's as I obtained one in Cordovan steer (non-shearling lined) about 8 months ago. It is a classic that reminds me of my youth when the style was more prevalent than today. You definitely have a keeper!
Cordovan steer, that's a beauty. I was thinking of a Sheene in this hide but I recently bought a new car so no new jackets for the coming 2 years!

That's really cool. I'm looking at getting one as well. A couple of questions, if you don't mind:

- How does it handle heavy snow?
- When it's really cold, does the oil in the leather stiffen up?

It behaves much better to snow compared to my B-3 and the same as my Alpha N3-B parka.
All the CXL leathers tend to stiffen when cold; I haven't used any CXL for anything below -5c but keep in mind that the hide will really fast get warm from your body.

It certainly is a beast Ton, a priced possession! Almost two years later it has only become better. Sometimes (when my gf is not at home) I just take it out of the closet and look at it, gently caressing the shearling!
LOL, sounds like porn :D

@Harris HTM how has that half-belt broken in these past two years?
Hi Cornelius.
That's a coincidence, today it was the first time here cold enough to get this jacket out of the closet in months!
The sleeves have softened considerably and grey undertones appear at areas of wear (safety belt, laptop bag, cuffs, etc). The body, due to the thick shearling, remains stiff as a cardboard. Nice grain has popped up all around.
I think this, along with my 30's HB and my Mariner are my favourite leather jackets.
Excuses for the quality of the photo's, taken with my mobile.

It's -10c today in Chicago, and making me wonder if it's finally time to pull the trigger on a jacket like this.
You won't regret it! My advice: go for a longer jacket (such as the shearling lined Barnstormer); get a lighter leather (such as goat); check whether you can ask for a full shearling lining (my LHB is covered 2/3 by shearling and 1/3 by heavy cordo); add an inch on the sleeve and back length: I had specified for the thickest shearling available and the shearling thickness lifts the jacket up in the shouders.
