A Gannon with a good beef burger, some 2-pulls & now followed up at home with a new bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask Single Malt Scotch. Laphroaig always pairs well with good beef.

That was my understanding, at least a few years ago, that the Winters Gold was only offered in the UK. I have not seen any in the States but I have not done an exhaustive search either.

O'Malley & Sons was established in 1842. I don't get there often enough due to the distance from home. I was going to be in the area today so I took my derby planning to stop, only to learn weekdays this time of yr they don't open until 5:00 PM.
My birthday is coming up soon. Maybe I'll plan to party at O'Malley's then stay at a B&B instead of driving home.

Had me a Revolver Blood and Honey Ale for lunch today at a close by lake with a Restaurant/Bar and a great patio. Wearing the Stetson 7XCB.

If I owned a place with history & a life of its own like O'Malley's, derbys & top hats would be required dress code out of respect for its history!
I couldn't wait till 5:00 but I'm planning on going back sometime B4 the holidays are over.

Thanks! I can do the Victorian thing. Need a good Victorian beard barber & some small round glasses. I used to have a pair of blue lens wires just like Quaid wore as Doc Holiday, but they were in my truck when it got stolen. Haven't been able to find any wire frames to replace them.
Sorry they weren't open, HJ. They missed an opportunity to have a guest that can wear the hell out of that style hat.

Thanks BB! As you might imagine from 1842, it's a tiny place & the original entry was from the street, on the other side. A few yrs ago they poured a big concrete patio on the backside to accommodate more people during warm weather season. That serves as the main entrance now & these pics were taken from there. The inside remains as it has been for many, many yrs; not really sure if anyone really knows for how long. It is on the National Historic Registry however, so they can't change much.

Those are the best bars ! We had a Flying Saucer pub in the old Land and Title building in Fort Worth from the 1880's during the Hells Half Acre time period, and also a National Historic Site. It was very original inside and just an awesome atmosphere, not to mention about 100 beers on tap. But FS had to move to a bigger place downtown and now some preppy gastro pub moved in. I sure miss that place.

New addition to my whiskey shelf - Macallan 12 (Speyside sherry oak cask).
After listening, reviews via the internet and friends, I picked up a what I understand is to be a standard for whiskey shelves - Macallan 12. Macallan advertises a ton. While they advertise a ton, this whiskey, IMO, is worthy of the advertising monies spent. Well done and easily approachable.
Seeking some personal down time this late afternoon, I have been sipping a dram while strolling around the property. I can taste the dried fruit or sherry cask influence. I enjoy that it is not sweet, very smooth- sippable and simple on the tongue. It now owns a spot on the shelf - well done Macallan.
Cheers. Later I will pour a dram of a more complex whiskey. It will be interesting to reflect on whether the pleasantness of the Macallan 12 holds its place on the whiskey shelf.
