So I found this #125 on FB Marketplace, the jacket arrived today and the weirdest thing ever - The sleeves are 20.5" long. Or short!

Craziest part is they haven't been shortened or altered in any way. All the seams are intact, the underarm football things are just where they're suppose to be (and I doubt it anyone could've done such a perfect job with so much going on under the arms) and so are the cuffs, with the zippers being exactly the same length as on my other two Perfectos.

Why on earth would Schott make this, though? Did you guys ever see anything like it?

In any case, obviously I can't wear this thing, even though I was really looking forward to it as the #125 was my first Schott cross zip and I was hoping I'd find another one for a reasonable price.

Saddened by yet another failed purchase, as I was tryna think of a way to word the eBay listing so that the jacket'd at least appear wearable, the thought occurred to me... Why not just make a vest outta it?

The jacket fits me perfectly in the body, plus there's no belt so it wouldn't look overdone.

Or is it a ridiculously stupid idea and I should just list the jacket and hope for the best?

Is there anyone out there who'd find the 20.5" sleeves wearable? That seems short even for a woman's jacket!

So tell you what, I'll let you guys decide - what do you think? What would you do? Do I sell it? Or do I just cut the sleeves off and wear it as a vest?
And sell the LW! XD

Years ago I saw someone wearing one with sleeves that were cut t-shirt length, I mean I can't imagine its at all practical but it actually looked pretty good.

Vest.. do you think its as simple as unpicking the sleeve stitching? or would you have a seamstress/tailor do the work?.. If me Id have a pro do it.

Not sure. I don't see what else'd there be to be done, other than ripping the sleeves off. I guess the lining would sag then but... I don't wanna invest any more money into it, TBH. Maybe even rip the entire lining out altogether. It's just that thin nylon stuff anyway.

PS- I’ll buy the LW vest and add sleeves to it to tidy this whole thread up post haste.

That vest'd fit you 10/10, tho.

Don't you dare, it's probably originally owned by Joey Ramone himself!

Lookin' at Joey on Google rn, that one Schott he's wearing is definitely suffering from the same condition. Was that a... Thing??? I'd get it if it was one of the 90's over-sized ones with huge shoulders but it's not! It's a very trim fitting jacket.

Joey was 6' 6", and likely wore an off-the-rack regular size jacket that simply didn't fit him.

All kidding aside, I'd cut the sleeves off, cutting through just the leather, and remove the shell of the sleeves from the body, leaving the lining of the sleeves intact, and then trim them to leave some excess material for a hem and reattachment to the new cuff at the shoulder. If you are good with a needle, and careful, it might not even look half bad.
