A bit of old and new. Early 1900s Roelofs and Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter. I don’t know if it tasted anything like Pecan Pie but I could definitely taste the chocolate tones and overall a pretty drinkable beer. Not nearly as heavy as the Founders Big Lucious that I did enjoy as well.

Looking over the site as Clown Shoes Brewery... this one may need to be on the list for next time Churro Sombrero... maybe my alter ego ;)

That last one gives new meaning to the disclaimer printed on every can:

"Please drink responsibly and with moderation."

My apology. I see the personal connection now. I was thinking of clowns & how names & can art is being used here. Reminds me of candy cigarettes, bubble gum cigars & flavored vaping juice to attract kids to the product.
No worries. This brand has definitely one of the more bizarre names and can arts I’ve come across. I’m not gonna say some kids weren’t taken to smoking from candy cigs and bubble gum cigars... but I imagine more took to the candy ones to be “just like good ole dad” and the circle continues. Argument can definitely made both ways on the vaping juice... but those flavors also got millions off of deadly tobacco.

I suspect though the popularity of vaping among younger culture... how long till they start saying they need to go “analog” and tobacco makes a comeback LOL

Another one I picked up to try out the other day Founders Marvelroast... Imperial Golden Ale with Coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla and milk sugar. A really nice easy drinking combo.... kinda an iced coffee/chocolate milk kinda flavor. Matched very well with this mid 50s Saks Fifth Avenue

After a good long stretch my luck finally ran out this yr & I had to take Mrs. Claus to the 33rd yr of Christmas in the Park. So I grabbed El Jefe, a Stetson One-hundred & we headed out before the crowds only get bigger & the weather turns worse.

Just a few of the pics I took. Haven't been thru the rest yet.

And now back home it's time for some "milk & cookies" for Santa.

Glad you and Mrs.Claus had an opportunity to spend time together looking at light displays. Better you than me good sir. I am pleased that they fascinate others, like my wife, but a good old Lagavulin out on the deck watching the full moon and stars sounds like a great choice. Glad to see that Santa can enjoy the evening.

No pic tonight, but I have been out on the deck, doing what I suggested -watching the stars and of course keeping my eyes peeled for the Chinese lander. ;) A Founders All Day IPA has kept my dog and I company.

Cheers folks. Pics tomorrow. Best, Eric -

I did my duty & took one for the team. And I promise not to post more pics she made me take to send to the g'kids.

I couldn't agree more. I have a kit of fox living in the woods back behind me. I have been seeing then out in the open more than when they were first born back in the Spring. That may have been what the hawk in my tree was watching for last Sunday.

I was asked what the #7 Whiskey of the yr was on the list above. I had intentionally left it out since it was not a Scotch or Irish Whiskey. Also #5 has now been revealed, so for completeness I'll add these two now:

#7. Elijah Craig Straight Rye

#5. Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof

Top 4'remain to be revealed.

I interrupt your posted list; Wild Turkey? I sampled this in my neighbors garage last weekend. He proudly and from a overly assertive distance proudly shared his recently delivered WT Barrel Proof. I did not enjoy it. I had a difficult time getting past the tobacco taste. Not a fav for me. It just goes to show the wide differences in taste preferences.

I had ordered some stuff and had it delivered to his house as we were unsure if we would be at home. I did not want liquor to be delivered and left on my doorstep! What could go wrong? :( We sampled the bottle of Ardbeg Wee Beastie I recieved. Excellent. I know reviews have panned it for not being up to the standard Ardbeg taste and aromas. After reading your impressions a couple weeks ago, I ordered one. It was as I surmised, I like it. Deliberately I chose this whiskey's characteristics for my sharing with my wife. A more moderate peat taste, ripe and earthy and we think it is delightful to sip. It has sat on the shelf ever since as I have not made an opportunity over the last few days. It's time is coming!

My neighbor did not like it - preferred his WT Barrel Proof.

Cheers, Eric -

As to the Wild Turkey, I never touch the stuff after having a bad experience with it yrs ago. I did note the Barrel Proof is high octane @ 112 proof.

Wee Beastie will not replace Lag 16 as my favorite Islay but I do find it enjoyable & at a price point I don't have to be conservative with it. I do have another bottle coming in a current order with ACE.
