Just took some pics of the Peacoat, freezing out there!

Edit: Just want to add that this pattern is briliant.
My brother has a size 40 LW HH peacoat and that is slightly tight on me.
This one is slightly big on me IMO ( i think an in between size 41 would be perfect on me) but it is so well cut that it really hides the excess material and falls really well.
The only other leather peacoat i have tried was the Schott 740n and honestly this is night and day. The Shott one feels like a big leather tent compared to this.
This one really feels like a classic USN peacoat, it's really a super comfortable coat to wear, it looks very neat, whilst having enough room everywhere to layer comfortably and not being restrictive.
This is probably the most impressive LW pattern i have worn.

I love how the Niva has become part of this thread. I love them, I remember them from being a kid and a mate has, or had one, in Australia. They are just brilliantly robust! I would happily get one but I'm not sure you can get them into the UK now, I suppose the closest modern version is the Dacia Duster in 4x4 mode which I am also oddly drawn to...

Obviously nice jackets as well... :)

No airbags, only "saftey features" it has is ABS and power steering, this is for the EU market cars only, the russian ones don't even have ABS!
It drives great up to 80km/h (50mph), above that things get super noisy.
Comfortable top speed is 110km/h (70mph), i have gone 130km/h (80mph) in it but she doesn't like it.
At that speed gas mileage is so bad i don't drive that fast.
Engine is a 1.7L straight four, average consumption is 11l/100km (21m/gal).
Everything is super basic, most things can be fixed yourself if you are somewhat competant mechanically. And parts are super cheap. (i changed a whole master cylinder for 25 euros)

This is the same model as mine:

They also do an "Urban" model which has different body kit, heated seats and AC:

Both models come in 3 and 5 doors, this is the cheapset off road 4x4 you can currently buy new.
(3 door is 11000 euro, 13225 usd)
Also in Russia they do tuning for impassable places in the forest with their own hands

Just WOW.

That peacoat is amazing and it's very flattering on you. I think that not only the pattern from LW but also the Moosehide is responsible for the drape of the peacoat. This way any excess just hangs properly. I feel the same way with Derskin.

The more you wear it the better it will mold to your body but that looks like a hell of a comfortable peacoat, more than a wool one.

Thanks for sharing the fit pics and stay warm!

And belatedly joining in the fun, here’s me wearing my vintage Elvo leathers dispatch riders coat. Sorry for the bad propped up phone shot, not easy to get the whole jacket in shot and this was the best I could do solo!

It was -8 C here today, so i took the chance to wear this beast of a coat for walking to the supermarket and back - the jackets just too warm for the climate here most of the year. It’s also a great workout as (unsurprisingly given its double breasted, long and has a heavy moleskin lining) it weighs 4280g (about 9.4 lbs) making it easily my heaviest leather jacket (even my armoured bike jackets don’t get much over 3kg (6.7lbs) including all the body armour...).

The jacket is maybe 80 years old or so and needed quite a bit of work when I first got it, but it was complete barring one button and a missing throat latch. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, but in the end I managed to bring it back to life and keep it mostly original. Non-original bits are: one not well matched replacement button, but in a not so visible place; a new leather covered belt buckle I sourced and dyed to match as the original was beyond saving; and new sleeve linings and knit storm cuffs as the old ones were shot... I also managed to get lucky and retain most of the patina whilst successfully cleaning up and blending some bad marks and stains. Pretty pleased with how it turned out overall and the leather really came back to life with some long overdue care, which must be a testament to the tough quality of the leather.

Anyway, I know we don’t often see many leather jackets/coats beyond waist/top of hips length (good to see that LW pea coat - lovely!) let alone long great coat/long trench-coat styles here, but I hope it was of interest to some of you...

I picked up a Rothco B-15 off the ‘Bay for $25. Makes a great “beater” jacket and it’s surprisingly warm! Very well made. Plenty of room for layering, especially when it’s zero degrees outside and you’re down in Antarctica (actually it’s New Jersey :p).
