Gorgeous. I'm taking notes. I got a solid 8 months to go, although Greg seems to be flying now. I'm honing in on Pony vs Aniline. Leaning more towards Aniline, but like I said, I'm watching closely. Great stuff.

good luck with that, the wait isn't so bad. Greg really is more organized now that Sam is helping out so I hope he has time to make the new stock patterns now. those patterns should come out hopefully early next year and looks like a padded cross zip should be in the cards if it all goes well.

I also placed my new order last week, so I should get that by next December lol

Sorry for the OT.
Nice black ensemble.

What are your boots?
Thanks, they're RRL Bowery boots.

Recently got this jacket from Field leathers.

It's a mix between/inspired by his Michigan model, a FW Caboose and maybe an Aero HWM. Leather is Shinki Pony from his latest batch. I wasn't sure about the Pony, but it looked more interesting to me than the dark brown horsehide he had at hand. I am happy I went for the Pony - gosh, what a nice leather it is!

Working with Greg was great! I had just a vague idea and changed my mind several times. At the end, he made a second mock up jacket to get sure that the jacket will be to my ideas. I didn't want to have side adjusters/side straps for a clean look. Greg sent me a large piece from the same leather if I would like them in the future.

So, these are pictures from Greg at his workshop.

I will take better pictures in the future. My wife and my small girls are not so keen/gifted to take good pictures...

Btw: if any of you could tell me how you take all this nice pictures of your jackets (sometimes I see a small little device in your hands) I really would appreciate...
Wow, absolutely awesome. I love the brown pony. Great fit too. Personally I would have made the body an inch shorter, but that's just personal preference. Which thread color did you choose?

It's simple brown.

Thanks for all the kind feedback. I am happy with the jacket. Problem now is that I would like to have another one in black and a different pattern. Looking forward what Greg is going to release...

Are these made by Cheaney?
Very nice boots. Thanks for the info.
I know the Bowery boots. But didn't recognize them from the pic.

The first version, or one of them, was made by Julian.
And yes, I think, now they're made by Cheaney.
Cheaney now actually has relatively similar pairs. They have a kind of stitching on the side similar to the Wolverine 1Ks.

I had heard that the made in UK RRL boots were made by either C&J or Cheaney and the pair looks rather bulky to be C&J.

Could be, they're made in England and they're not C&Js. Fit isn't bad, but they're not great either. Definitely not worth their $990 (LOL) price tag.
Jesus, 1000 dollars for a Cheaney? so for a RRL you pay 100% above the actual price?

@andyone Gosh, this looks spectacular. I like everything about this jacket! Perfect fit. Congrats! When seeing your pics and hearing that the Pony hide is really nice I'm starting to regret that I didn't order it about 10 months ago.

Thanks! When I got the samples I thought that the Pony might be to bright and shiny for my preference. I told Greg about that and he said that I should wait some days as he awaited a new batch. He reserved me the darkest Pony hide - now I am happy that I went for the Pony leather. Really nice - and I like the smell too :)

Is the Pony hide considered a Teacore leather? I may end up requesting that same brown for my jacket - the color is so rich!

Thank you Jin! Can you tell me how it compares to the other Shinki leathers? Thicker/thinner, stiffer or softer, oily/waxy/dry? I appreciate all the help.

I'll keep it to Gregs shinki offering that I have but I only have a swatch sample of the pony shinki so it's hard to really say (I'll get my own brown pony cross zip In the next 2-3 weeks though so I can answer it better then)

As far as thickness goes it's a solid 3-3.5oz, so the pony shinki feels as thick as the black/brown aniline and just a little bit thicker than the black teacore. It feels firmer than the aniline leather since the pony has a finish to the surface but not as rigid as the black teacore. As far as texture I feel it's lightly finished with oil maybe combined with wax, so it has that shine which is always welcome in my eyes. The sheen should dumb down with wear but it's always nice to have when new.
