amazing grain
thanks, it's not as richly colored as your cordovan coat though.

If I wanted a CXL again, I would definitely go with tumbled. Nice jacket.
thanks, the tumbled brown and black versions I see always look good

Tumbled CXL is the way. The more I see it, the more I believe it.
i prefer veg tanned leather but always liked CXL and this one is the best CXL I've handled personally. the shell is rather soft already but they used a thicker panel for the sleeves which I appreciate greatly.

Looks great per usual

Fit was the smaller part of it for me, although yes I did feel that it was a little short on the front and sleeves and it was starting to get uncomfortably tight across the shoulders. Still, that was just the tipping point for me. I love the jacket from the front but really didn't like the stiff kidney panel. I had considered a while back having it removed but felt like it would be a risky surgery, and something ineffable might very well be lost if I did it.

I actually took the Bates today to my local leather tailor for the same reason - Stiff kidney panel removal and cutting the tail off it to make the jacket shorter at the back - but being smarter than I am, he advised me not to ruin a perfectly good jacket with a very functional feature & I have to admit it's been keeping my back warm this winter.

Besides, doing this would literally turn it into I dunno, Excelled. I mean, it's a much more quality jacket but they all look the same.

Anyone have a thought as to which picture in the WJAYWT thread has the most “likes” of all time? Just curious. Lots of makers and styles seem to get “Likes” but perhaps photo composition pushes a good jacket over the top.
