Just wanted to update everyone that they still have not refunded my $1,597.19

Over two weeks ago they told me they had processed it. Obviously I contacted my credit card and they put a temporary credit while they investigate but this is just not what I expected from this company.

These guys ship all over the world, what you see in that shop is just some of it, from what I was told they have a separate manufacturing site where they produce these jackets.

They really don’t have complaints other than a few minor manufacturing issues which happen to anyone so I can’t understand how they can’t process this refund.

The only experience worse than this was some keychains from a French site which ended up sending my order to some African country. Which they also ignored communication and I had to dispute that charge.

All is well that ends well, this just opened my eyes to other manufacturers which through communication actually seem to value your business which makes you feel better when dropping large sums of money on items that everyday people would probably think we are crazy.
That's really too bad. When I got my Cyclone about a year ago, I had a great experience working with Rip. So disappointing that he is no longer there.

Yeah from what it seems that RiP was acreal
Pleasure to deal with. It seems a new guy Steve has been handling communication and Hess been friendly the few times he answered but I didn’t get the refund he sad went through.

On a lighter note, they should have offered RIP the world if he wanted to stay on board considering the highlight of the Lewis Brand is the made to measure at a quick turn around and reasonable price, especially if you keep with the standard leather. It will work out and I’m confident that they will still
Make the jackets they are known for but it’s just baffling that they have this hard of a time processing refunds

If it is any consolation, I also cancelled an order with LL almost 2 months ago and was assured 3x that the order was refunded, I was even shown a picture taken by Aki using his phone displaying his computer screen and the order cancellation, but the debited amount is still showing on my credit card statements.

I had to call the CC company and explain the situation for them to investigate the expense. To this day, the expense is still showing as a frozen amount on my CC statement while my CC company awaits a response from LL.

Unrelate, but I was also told 2 weeks ago that my second LL jacket was done and would be shipped off to me this week - but still no feedback on that either as of today...

Seems they are still struggling internally sadly

That’s terrible. They have the time to post crap on instagram daily but can’t seem to do a simple refund, it’s funny you cancel something with Amazon and it is back within 24hours in your account.

We will get our money back and the credit card company will see to that, with enough disputes it will hurt their relationship with their merchant account so they are not doing themselves any favors.

What I do hope is that your upcoming jacket will fit as you intended with the same quality, I think with your measurements from your previous orders that your new one will be good, fingers crossed.

Finally received my Rutland Sheep star lightning. (Last pending LL order I had)

The Rutland sheep leather feels just like the Veg tan sheep but is a bit thicker and shinier + heavier.

Below are some pics that can better show what the jacket and leather look like.

I'm not used to seeing this kind of puckering on a LL (the chest pockets).

Same - however I believe this might be due to the type of leather used as we haven't seen many Rutland Sheep jackets from LL across the forum..(or at least i haven't)

The leather also appears to be much more broken in and grainy than my cowhide or veg sheep jackets from LL..

As a follow up to the star lightning received today, I have just had the time to sit down and examine it after work and I found a couple QC issues when it comes to the some of the snaps which seem to be damaged or have holes in them as seen in the pics below.

As many of you have much more experience with purchasing leather jackets than I do from different makers, would this be something you would complain about to a maker or would this be something you would generally overlook, keeping in mind that the snaps do work properly currently.

Interesting that their hardware is showing more visible faults, I don't know who supplies their snaps but LL's snaps are some of the most loose in my experience, and what's happening here is just metal cracking. Luckily, the snap will not pull up and fall off yet, and given that their snaps are weak, there's even less force to pull it up and off. You can always email the photos to them but it is hard to build a case for exchange....just have to live with it. :(

are these snaps visible on the undersides? if so, theoretically replacing them can be easy, just use a drill bit and drill and install a new one. the only issue is even though the snap size is the same, the male and female parts don't always fit together if they come from different manufacturers, but, you can always test before you install a new male side, but if the underside is hidden under the lining, you'd better just leave it.

Thank you for the feedback!

I think I can live with the snaps as they are, these small cracks are only visible on the inside of the snaps and not on the front part of the snap that is visible.

When inspecting my other LL jackets it seems that the snaps for those were also not quite perfect and damage free.

I guess I am just noticing it now..

Was able to try on a Racing Jacket 442 in Navy blue horsehide the other day. The same size as mine, but so tight that I barely got in. I think this is due to the horsehide, which is much stiffer than I had assumed and the quilted lining. The armholes also seemed even tighter than mine.
Should I ever take one in horse, I would probably choose a size larger.

personally, I think it's a little too big in the body. Id opt for a custom fit directly from LL, it's worth the wait, and the price might even be less as correlection.

Guys, I picked up my jacket in Lewis Leathers London today. I have some mixed feelings about the jacket. I love the leather and design; but I feel that the jacket, after made to my measurement, is a bit out of the portion. Please see photos below.
Firstly, two of my fitting photos. I’m 173cm and 86kg. Overall I’m quite happy about what they did with my request (a back measurement of 57cm).

But what comes to my concern is the portion of the jacket. I kinda feel the collars and lapels are too big for a size 42, and the length of the zip waist (marked in red and green) is too short after the modification. It makes the jacket looks more like a cropped suit. Also on the back, I feel like the portion of the middle part (mark in red) is too short compared to upper part and lower part. I don’t know if it’s the result of my wide physique; or it’s the lack of portion/pattern adjustment after Lewis receive customer’s request. What’s your thinking? Do you think I should accept what I have now?

Seen laying flat, it does look a little off. I would have guessed it was a ladies jacket. But it looks fine being worn.

It you think it’s going to bother you though, talk to them. No matter what we all say, it means nothing if this sits on your brain and ruins the jacket experience for you.

The back picture looks fine. The front picture ehh not so much. It's a pattern thing really. For a jacket this short to work, it needs a front drop. 22.5" in the back works just fine with the right pair of trousers as you demonstrate in the picture but 22.5" in the front is short by any means (and it actually is shorter in the front because the jacket has a back drop).

The collars and lapels per se look fine.

Due to the short front length and all these features "squeezed" onto it, it does look kind of odd and cropped. I don't know if you could expect Lewis Leathers to change the pattern and add a front drop though. That goes beyond "adjusting jacket length to customer body height" and is a bigger deal pattern-wise.

I would not be happy with this but unless you want Lewis Leathers to go full-custom pattern for you, I wouldn't know how they could help you. As for buying a jacket and shortening it to 57 cm backlength, this is as good as it gets. Frankly, if I were you, I would have ordered a 24" backlength. Should remedy all problems above and still grant you that historically accurate short fit.
