Haha I was talking to @dudewuttheheck not your fit. Yours is great. This jacket has a wider chest compared to the shoulders than my others (granted Flat Head fit) so for me if the shoulders fit the chest was a bit roomy.

Haha thanks for clarifying mate. Apologies for my confusion. Yeah I’m glad you think it’s a good fit, as nothing off the shelf is perfect for me thanks to my short arms, but quite wide torso. Thanks again

I think the jacket would fit you quite well at 38 Dude. We seem to have similar measurements and the jacket fits me super well. It’s a really functional piece.
Definitely something for me to look into thanks. What's the back and front length on the 38 if you don't mind?

This is a really great looking jacket and I’m seriously considering one (after the Mulholland debacle ). I’m encouraged to hear the sizes published at The Real Mccoys is accurate to the actual jacket received.

Would any of you lucky owners expand on the liner please? Pics? Is it cotton drill or … ?
@Brandrea33 may I ask what the Mulholland debacle was? I’m guessing you ordered a Freewheelers Mulholland and it didn’t work out?

Indeed I did, a size 44. The arms were about 1.5” too short from what they were advertised as on the Sendai Speedway website.

Fortunately they were good about allowing me to return for a refund which is something they do not normally do. It cost me at $600 all in with shipping and customs however.

I’ve since tried a few other Japanese jackets, including the Nelson but they don’t really fit me all that well, even though the measurements suggest they should.

For now, I’m sticking to Himel and Goodwear as I know they will fit, although I am tempted to try the RM Buco J24 “new fit”:)

I see. Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. This is the exact reason why I hate buying clothing online, but unfortunately it’s kind of the only option we have with Japanese clothing and not living in Japan lol. I’m actually debating between the Mulholland and the Nelson myself. The RM UK store has a Nelson in my size right now and I’m really tempted.

If you go that route, I’d recommend having the seller put a cloth tape to the jacket to verify the measurements.

If you have a pair of repro khakis their pockets are probably similar to the lining. It works perfect for socal weather since the lining gives very little in terms of warmth.

FWIW I had similar issues and the size 46 (RMC and Freewheelers, Flathead I can do 44 or 46 depending) was perfect.

Fit looks great @Rauri B .

edit: Also Fine Creek Leathers size 46 is a good fit, though I'm selling my Eric due to really only wearing my Buco j100 most of the year.

@Brandrea33 since you’ve been able to handle both the Mulholland and the Nelson, would you be able to compare the build quality between the two?
I’ve owned a Mulholland and currently own a Nelson so can contribute to this - although I’m perhaps a bit biased considering my experience with the Freewheelers.

The Mulholland and Nelson and equally well made in terms of finishing, stitching etc , however the Mulholland I had was hands down he least comfortable jacket I’ve ever worn (it felt like I was wearing an ill fitting and heavy horse saddle), and the vintage style zipper only successfully fastened on a couple of occasions, and then proceeded to totally disintegrate, leaving it unable to fasten at all. So they are my, not entirely positive thoughts on the Mulholland.

By way of contrast, the Nelson is comfortable and seems to fit a normal(ish) western body, the zipper works every time, and I don’t dread putting it on. I’m sure people with more knowledge than me can weigh in on the stitching etc etc, but to me they seemed equally well put together.
