Flapcup CCC Jacket?

So, I'm always looking for new things to sell in my shop and these goofy Chinese company ads are always making their way across my Facebook / Instagram feeds. The low low prices are almost as ridiculous as the names. (Flapcup.com? I should have known.) Every now and then I'll take a chance with 50/50 results. Believe it or not, I've actually gotten some really good quality items.

This . . . is not one of them.

OMFG.

It's printed on pure polyester. Probably a fire hazard.

Hands down the worst product I've ever received.

That looks like the version you would buy in a
Cellophane bag from Party City as a kids Halloween costume! LOL. These bogus ships are popping up everywhere and have infiltrated almost every website. Pure trash.

Sadly even Etsy has started to become flooded with mass-produced, low quality stuff, rather defeating the very point of that site. Pays to be careful, though it's amazing how far some of these places go to disguise what they are about. It's common for places to advertise themselves as UK businesses, but they're purely drop-shipping operations.

I bought a leather bag from an eBay seller that was something like this. When it arrived, the quality was about right for the very low price and it would have done.... but the shoulder straps were epically too short for me to use as a backpack as intended, and it smelt weird, like slightly off butter. Gave them a bad ebay review and initiated a return: they tried to withhold my money unless I changed the review to positive. Ebay/paypal found in my favour.

During Covid I bought a Vanson used jacket from a site in Germany and received a pair of fake (what else?) Raybans from China instead...

A lot of con artists seem to do this now; when queried, they'll claim they sent the item and produce the paperwork for what they did send as "proof". Paypal and such are generally very good at dealing with these claims; I guess they mostly make their money by most people not getting around to pushing for a refund. A while back, I got ripped off by a seller in China promising big things for a Grail Diary; what arrived was a cheap paperback, sort of thing you'd see 'free' with Empire Magazine, and available on sale via Amazon for much less than half of what I was charged. Photos has been lifted from an Etsy listing by someone else, inevitably. Paypal refunded my full expenditure without requiring a return.

I got scammed with an expensive camera. Oddly the fake UPS Tracking number was for a package that was delivered 4 minutes from my house. When I explained what happened to eBay they refunded the charge within an hour.

EBay and paypal have both been very good for me this way. I suppose it's also in their own interests, given that otherwise we all might stop using their platforms owing to scammers...

But it says "No expense was spared..." Ha! I can't believe how bad that is. Thanks for taking the hit and checking it out, though. Pretty amazing to say this:
  • Custom manufacturing of the correct heavy worsted-wool blanket-like fabric using vintage machinery
...and then send a polyester jacket. I'm almost impressed!

The text is copied from History Preservation, as are the photos of the jacket on top of a work shirt.
