I've had a couple of good deals with Zot. I suspect that something might be going on in his life that he might need to take care of? But, yes, the errors in the jacket description aren't cool at all.

This definitely isn't good but I know that Zot was taking a hit on at four jackets that he'd listed here so I don't think he was in it for the money.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make...
He definitely took my money, and i am now the one taking a hit!

I'm pretty sure I bought at least one jacket from him, but I can't recall for sure. He certainly has/had quite a collection.

If I did buy something from him, I didn't have any problems.

I think it's understandable if once in a great while a dispute comes up over a missed detail, although in this case it's a bit suspicious that he's not responded to the complaint, and hard to be understanding about the details at issue.

The measurement could have been an error, and the zipper problems might be overlooked by someone with a large collection who doesn't wear them much and is listing a lot of their collection too quickly to assess their condition properly, and was too optimistic about the defects.

Still, a seller should respond to a customer, even if the terms were as is, all sales final, buyer assumes all risk.

By not responding, the seller invites the buyer to take a grievance public, and risks future sales as a result.

Agreed. I feel bad for Carlos. And I appreciate him posting his experience so I can avoid future risk.

I’ve talked people out of buying my stuff. If I know it won’t fit I certainly won’t send it off for a quick sale and sure disappointment... I’m really genuinely surprised by all this. Zot was always upfront with me, answered questions honestly, and shipped everything quickly and securely.

He does seem to have a huge volume of stuff. But when specific questions are asked, omission by ignorance is invalid. Sorry to hear it Carlos. I’m sure you could flip the jackets and minimize your loss to some extent. Particularly on the j-24. It’s a sought after jacket. You might damn near break even. Easy Ryder will be a sunk ship. I’d have a local throw a YKK on it and just beat the piss out of it.

I did see him list on eBay and not here anymore. Maybe there’s something to that. Who knows.

I am hoping this is just an unintentional misunderstanding. I am thinking that Zot may not be aware of what is currently happening. He has not been in the forum since November 30th. I feel for both Carlos and Zot. Carlos because I can understand his situation. I have been burned before by some terrible sellers here and on other sites. I truly do not want to name sellers but if their dignity is worth a few hundred that is their prerogative. Zot has always been solid to me. We have directly traded jackets last year, and we both were happy with our trades. About 3 weeks ago, I purchased 4 jackets from him. One of them (Japanese 30's beautiful goat motorcycle/aviator Repro) will be taken to my place in Europe to keep in my permanent collection. The others were also great xzip from Schott including the iconic 1928. Zot, has also helped me out locating one of the keepers that I always wanted. The contact he shared is a top-of-the-line gent with who I would trade in a heartbeat. Both Carlos and Zot are great members with excellent histories. I truly hope things get cleared up with satisfactory results for both members.

I noticed he posted several jackets on ebay only recently. That is a weird coincidence that he sold carlos those Jackets an hasn't been back, an then sell 4-5 other jackets on ebay only. I sent a message asking why they weren't posted in the classifieds.......no response.

I have sent Zot multiple emails (regular email, not TFL messages).
Unless he has moved to Alaska and hasn't had internet access in two weeks he knows...

Zot is not really a member, he is a seller, TFL isn't a community to him, it is a place to sell his jackets.
I have no sympathy for him after what he has done and i don't see why everyone keeps posting about all the great experiences they had with him.
I also had the same good experiences with him up untill now where he screwed me up...

There's a difference between:

* a full scam artist, someone who doesn't even have the item in question, and just cons you out of your money,
* someone selling fake items (perhaps unaware)
* someone who over-represents and under-delivers consistently
* someone who overlooked an issue that mattered more to the buyer

So these testimonials are helpful to establish the type of person Think_zot is.

It sounds like a situation where PayPal buyer protection could have helped you. I know we all try to trust each other and that often works out great for everyone, saving a few bucks. But a buyer protection claim would be appropriate recourse in this situation, and would alleviate the reservations I would have if I were to consider buying from zot in the future.

I think you did what's customary and the norm for this community, and certainly I don't mean to imply that any of this was your fault. It's definitely concerning that zot has ignored your messages. But if he had something listed on eBay that I had to have, I'd be confident in the transaction, based on eBay and PayPal policies.

I hope you do hear back from him, and can work out an agreeable arrangement. It would be reasonable for him to cover the zipper repairs, at least.

I know. You have a legitimate grievance, and you did nothing wrong. This isn't your fault.

But all that said, with buyer protection, you would have had some leverage to compel zot to provide a solution. That's all I'm saying.

Even though we're all friendly and gentlemen here (for the most part) when something like this happens, it's an advantage to have an option for arbitration. We do assume some risks, dealing here.

Reporting problems to the community when they do happen helps minimize those risks. So your report is appreciated, I'm sure I can say that on behalf of everyone. I'm sorry this happened to you.
