What is your favorite hat crease?

Hey Doughboy ... if you're going for the "crab rangoon" crease on your campaign hat, you're going to have to use more egg-wash to get those edges to stick together.

As a bump.....My modern Imperial Stetson "Norwalk", not my favorite but rather incorporates favorite elements....a quad or four corner pinch as well as a creased and raised center (gives me more head room). It always gets compliments.

Not the same but a little take on your crease as this coffin hat has a center crease from being rolled up in its box. Just figured I’d have a little fun.

While I did include this in my Agnoulita post this is my variation of the teardrop crease. I do like my creases to have a traditional overall appearance with straight lines and squarish corners when I do them myself.

Sometimes I prefer a tight pinch like on my Raiders, a narrower classic style pinch or a broad pinch as I shaped it here. I try to coax the shape I want for the hat without forcing it. Sometimes I let it set a bit and then come back to finish it.

This morning I creased a Mallory Classic. I started my walkabout in a nice and neat soft diamond.

After an hour this is crease. It wished for a change. I will need to wear this hat a bunch more before "we" settle on a crease.

Later I changed to a Stetson Playboy Air Light. The crease that this hat "asked for" is a gentle diamond with a rolled edge. I pulled the crown side dents back past the ribbon.

Creases, for me, change with the task and wearing.

Either I failed or I went over board. My coworker that loves my hats said this crease looks a little to fancy to wear. IMG_20221230_234046.jpg

My intention was initially to have an overall teardrop with the raised center in the shape of a triangle similar to one of Adam's Hats on the style card from around page 7 or 8. Instead I ended up with a double tear drop. As I was trying to create the triangle center design it felt like I was fighting with the hat and it wanted to be a double teardrop instead.

Yes..........one must do what the hat wants.....the hat knows.
