Borsalino Dellasca. The third of my three Borsalino family hats from mid December.
Steve this is a very interesting Borsalino, first for the color "Pineta". It's the first time I've met it and the tone-on-tone ribbon is magnificent. I believe it was made in the thirties. The lining is very similar to the homburg I have, sold in Bulgaria from the same period.

Thank you for that, Daniele. Very interesting. I believe Jonathan @TheOldFashioned has a Borsalino in Pineta.

2.2cm grosgrain ribbon in the same colour, Pineta (forest pine).

The paper label puts this one at somewhere between 1936 to 1953 (thanks to Stefan's impressive research)

I'm thinking 1940s, either side of WWII.

It's a snug 5 1/2 punti with a very nice reeded dapple sweatband. Seems to have lost its sweatband bow, though.

Bindslev was a well respected furrier in Odense, Denmark's 3rd largest town.
That is a great find, Steve. It might be green, but the shape is fabulous. Deliasca is actually a model name we haven't seen before! Always exciting to see a new model.

Thanks Stefan. As soon as I saw this one, I knew it was something special. A special plus that it's a name not seen before.

However, I'm in doubt as to whether it's Deliasca or Dellasca. Looks like the latter to me if you compare the I in Pineta and the first L in Dellasca.

I don't think so, Steve. The L in these model names is fairly distinct with a pronounced serif, which extends even below the base of the letter. Here's another example, a deliaspo, where you can see the pronounced serif on the L in both the Muflone colour name as in the Deliaspo. The I after the L sits very close to the base of the A in both cases; if it was an L it would be more to the left I think.

Wonderful hat and memory, Steve, for indeed I have a Pineta as well from a later timeframe than yours:

Looks to be a different shade of green than the one Steve has, but that may be the light. Also a great shape.

I'm a sucker for a green hat: sorry Stefan :)

Your Pineta stuck in my mind, Jonathan. It's a beauty.
Hey, you like what you like, even Brussels sprouts!;)

This arrived a couple weeks ago. I’ve always wanted to see one of the coffin box hats. 5 ½” open crown and 2 ⅝” raw edge brim. It’s a Colombo and the felt is substantial with a wonderful suede/antelope finish. The nap is shorter than the MGLs I’ve handled, but it’s otherwise similar. I’m surprised the felt wasn’t of the lightweight variety. I suppose the box and the “XX” on the sweatband means it was market to the American tourist.

Fantastic find, Brent. Amazing they still pop up now and again. Not all of them were lightweight and I believe they even sold homburgs to go in these boxes. Sure would like to see of of those sometime.

Molto bello. Brent, the hat was probably bought by a soldier from Camp Darby located near Livorno from 1951
