Those hat pins are great, but to wear on a fedora ribbon, you either need to bend the pin or cut it off shorter, as it's about 2" long. Clint Orms does excellent silver work, and is highly recommended, as well as being a genuinely nice guy. Frank.

I met Cint Orms and his wife while in Las Vegas during rodeo week, he had a booth at the convention center. I ordered 2 buckles from him at the time, well over 20 years ago. Real nice people, I also have a beautiful Mark Dahl buckle from about that same time that I was wearing and they both recognized it as Dahl's work. Since we're talking about silver pins, I have a hat that was made for me by Double HH hats in Montana some 15 or more years ago. He cut out my initials placed a dark piece of felt behind the cut and installed my initials in silver on the bow side of the hat, though it has has a self band and silver buckle set, the hat is natural in color.

I met Dusty Rogers when he moved the museum from CA to Branson, MO & went to the auction a few yrs later when the museum was permanently closed.

Thanks again to HJ for this bump. This post from 2017 belongs here. Vic probably remembers enlightening me that RV in this context had nothing to do with Winnebagos or Romeo Void.


Picked this hat up awhile back from a non-eBay site. Thanks to one of our historians, Carouselvic, I found out the following info on the hats previous owner. Interesting fellow.This is what the hat looked like when i got it.

This is the band and pins that came with the hat. All Sterling silver.

Found something to add to & bump one of the best historical & documentary threads on this forum.

Rancheros Visitadores Penny's Marathon 3X5-1/2 illustrated by Joe De Yong with 4 cowboys on horseback, & the RV, Double P, & 34 brands. De Yong & also Ed Borein were the noted Rancheros Visitadores illustrators of the era. Sold at auction in 2022 for $5,015.00. Unfortunately only one pic with post auction results.

Saw a couple of riders with piteado saddles. The Mexican flag bearer with his piteado saddle & piteado-style suit looked pretty sharp.

#406 block, 7” crown by 3 7/8” BE brim Clear Noot western. This hat was auctioned with hitched hair hat band sewn onto it.

After I removed the hat band, I found the 1936 date etched below the RV on the front. The hat could be a few years older than the etched date, as it has the taped rear sweat band seem. LOT # is illegible unfortunately.

It has its fair share of moth nibbles, especially on the bottom of the brim. A proper trail hat for the RV runs I’d imagine.

Clear Noot sweat stamp and silk liner, no store brand stamp though.


Presumed original owner initials. This Stetson came with 4 other hats from the auction, one of which was sold through ‘E. C. Clothiers’ in Cleburne, Texas.

I removed the hair hat band and through it on my #1 quality western, so that the full scale of the etchings on the noot could be viewed.


A pretty epic hat, one that I want to find a clear case for storage/display. It does fit me too, but will only be worn inside for some photos. I’d assume this could be worth a decent sum and I don’t want to be the person that compromises any integrity. Thrilled to own it for now though!
