@Peter Mackin Did you do anything special to that jacket to achieve that? Crumple it up a lot, any treatments? Did it start out lifeless and plasticky, or was it soft from the beginning?

No it's been like this from the start,I've had it for 12/13 years and it's hardly been used.although I fkd up the zip trying to make it less prone to wear.i have a genuine vanson replacement zip that I will have fitted when needed.

Thanks Peter.

Mine is (or about as it has faded) 11770807. I cannot remember how the codes work?

...anyone?

According to that post, about 2,000-3,000 jackets a year, supposedly sequential serial numbering with no code in the numbering as to year produced. I have 2 at home with known production dates, I'll add those to this thread when I get home, for info sake if it helps anything.

I might have worn this jacket a dozen times in total,,sold all my ffqh and steerhide jackets because of how good these hides are.
I find that hide truly amazing, and I doubt I'm the only one. Would be nice to have a thread with that pic posted, anyone with similar Vanson hides could chime in, maybe with age of jacket. Somehow it may help determine how rare or available that might be in a used jacket for those of us who really want it. All I can do is dream at this point lol.

I actually have a pile of jackets that I have never worn,...I really need to sell more, buy less.

He had a really nice Chopper for sale recently that I was tempted by. I think I saw an ad for his Model B also. I love my Model B from the 1993-ish era. Very well broken in CW, Talon brass zips. The B is just so versatile, on and off the bike. So far, my most versatile jacket.

Yip,I was lucky enough to pick up my chopper from a lovely guy who stayed a couple of miles away, no postage and was able to see jacket in hand before purchase. I've got a gw m444a currently in customs at Heathrow waiting to hammer my wallet, just waiting for the bad news

I finally received this amazing jacket today! It’s an Aero Chips jacket made with Black CXL FQHH, olive stitching, and navy moleskin. I absolutely love the symmetric zipper, belt loop, and side laces. The chest feels a bit too roomy, and the leather is still stiff, so it feels slightly awkward now, but I’m confident it will break in beautifully over time and fit perfectly.

By the way, DHL Express is incredibly fast. It took less than 60 hours to get from Germany to Korea! On the downside, the shipping cost was 15% of the jacket’s price, but still…

Excellent!!! These cop CHP straight zips are awesome whether repro or vintage. And CXL FQHH is just the leather for it. It is an armor.
