Yesterday i made simple wraparound bracelet for my aunt's bday, using left over vegtan cow 2mm hide of my jacket and jeans button

I used oil to keep it supple so it can be uncoiled back into flat piece.
She likes it, and i think perhaps i should make another for her husband too.

And today I made slightly different one
Using water to harden the leather into shape, for myself and 1 more for her husband

Was fun, manually slicking the edges actually take hours and elbow grease with wooden slicker wand, while cutting and wet shaping it only take minutes.
I’d like to make myself something like that. Made my first wallet recently. Have you made videos or similar I could follow?

This is a nice thread.

I’ll post the following:

1) the original color of the belt I wear
2) it’s current color
3) the start color of my Aero western shirt (the last cowboy)

For 3), I’m enjoying the process so far. I’m uncertain how I’ll proceed. While I remain uncertain I’ll just keep wearing it and see what happens.

Aha! The infamous Kreis-belt. Can’t beat the value for money, nor the looks. Just a bit too beefy for everyday wear, IMO.

Fits ok on most of my pants. The original color was much paler if i recall correctly. I don’t wear any other belts anymore. Must make one though with some horse **** though.

I think this is the end game of natural leather evolution 1,5 year daily wear 24hrs per day on the skin, no particular care, I didn't sun tan it first just direct wearing maybe thats why it doesn't develop reddish patina

Yes i cut long slightly tapered strip that is long enough to bind around twice, and i cut a small slit to force in a screw/bolt on knob and another small cut to mount on the knob tightly, and then i wet them and shape them, wait overnight to half dry and shape some more, and slick the edges with tooling i use just cheap wooden edge slicker but there is also similar tool made from hard ebony wood or bone and some that has metal insert to be used with rotary tool

End results of a Tenjin Works’ natural jacket, not sure how many of us would find this desirable

If the rest of the jacket catches up with the darkest areas and it evens out some, I'd call it a win.

If you have to add conditions for you to be happy with a natural leather jacket, then you’re not happy with it. For the conditions you listed, I don’t think it would ever work out that way. Natural leather jacket is like the opposite of Teacore jacket, it darkens instead of lightening up, and Teacore jackets never completely peel off the top coat paint, just as natural leather jackets would never completely even out. What you see above is what you get essentially.

Tenjin are passionate about the aging of leather, they tend to use different techniques to accelerate the aging of their jackets. I suspect the owner of said jacket likes the current result or is even pushing it further.

Who cares who would find it desirable or not? You need to figure out what you want.

I’ve been sun bathing, wearing and riding with this one and it’s aging better than I expected.

Considering it had a fleshy pale pink tone at first that quickly turned bright golden orange, I was skeptical it would ever turn caramel brown as I was hoping, but sure enough it’s starting to show up.
