Leilah just sent me pics of my finished custom The Marling in the new brown cordovan leather. I requested an action back and camel cotton drill lining. She explained to me that in person and most of the time it looks like a rich deep brown but shows different shades depending on lighting. Here's some pics she sent me before I approved for shipping:

I'm really happy with how it looks and I can't wait to see it in person and wear it! I thought I would receive it in May but looks like it will still have time to enjoy the leather weather here in Chicago.

The jacket look pretty good on him! But the rather loose closed cuff issue still seems to be there.

I think so too, that's why I'm finally ordering one in oil black teacore minus the mouton (as I already have one on my cold weather Vanson E crosszip).

Hey guys. I've been wearing and enjoying my new black teacore steerhide jacket lately. But I've noticed an inconsistency in the leather. It's like the leather panel on the right arm has less of a top coat than the rest of the jacket. The leather is noticably courser when I run my finger tips over it (not talking about grain here). Bending the arm also shows the teacore, pretty cosiderably.

Please see the attached pictures, they show what I'm talking about, it's very noticeable. The first picture is the left arm, which is in line with the rest of the jacket. The other pictures are of the right arm.

I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about? It does bug me. Is the coat cracking? Mind you this is a new jacket that has not seen a lot of wear.

I think if it was intentional, it would be all over and not just on one arm, right? Unfortunately, I don't know the leather and can therefore only say that I don't know this from the two-tone and black oil. It's best to send the pictures to Leilah and ask her.

Thank you for those pictures. This is really strange as the hide is so rich in oils but it looks super dry in those photos. I haven’t seen anything like this yet, even with heavy wear. Could you email me at info@ruggedwest.co? Or better yet, via WhatsApp +447356205300.

Wow! that jacket looks very juicy! the more I see of the Cordovan leather from Leilah the more I want one for myself haha but what model to chose? Rugged Rider, Sentinel and the Marling they all look amazing

So I just got my custom The Marling (Special Edition) in the brown cordovan steerhide today! Just in time too since I'll be closing on our new home tomorrow

Here's my review (from a newbie who only owns 1 vintage and 1 5* jacket):

1. Fit: Perfect! I can do a t-shirt or a thick sweater with no issues. Leilah nailed it.
2. Leather: Definitely better than my FiveStar lmao (I still love it though lol) it's so soft and comfortable but it seems very tough. The brown cordovan shows different shades depending on lighting but it's very deep brown in person.
3. Smell: It smells good! Not overpoweringly good but it's fine
4. Stitching and build: I don't see any imperfections and I think it's well built.
5. Communication: Solid; Leilah responded in very reasonable time frames.
6. Shipping: No issues at all, arrived earlier than expected and I like the personal note included

Some pics (overcast weather in Chicago today so I'll take some pics once it gets sunny)

Overall, very happy with my jacket and the experience!

Thanks man! yeah I can see why the cuff width would be an issue.

For me, it's actually better as I regularly wesr a Garmin Fenix 7 which big and it's somewhat uncomfortable on the wrist when I'm wearing my other jackets. I specifically requested that width with Leilah too

Interesting, so in this case the zip cuffs are purely aesthetic as you can slide your hands in without unzipping anyway? If that's how you specified then all good!
