Chinese leather jackets

The problem there is that... It's Aliexpress. The pictures may not match the products and, while it's a risk that would also exist with Tailor Brando, there seems to be a good track record as per what I see from other users here.

That's also my wariness. I've seen a lot of stuff online over the years that used stock photos common o a lot of sellers. There's a leather vest I love the look of in photos, but I have no idea which of the eleventy million sellers on eBay or Etsy offering it are the ones who actually make it - or who can make a quality replica. There's a seller popped up on ebay recently selling what look like great jackets from Beijing - https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/12quan10?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197 . I don't think I'd risk it at this distance. They're not expensive by any means if they are as good as they look, but it's enough that if they aren't up to expectations it's a nightmare to return from UK, and too much for me just to write off. The sizing would also concern me. I'm usually okay with a Chinese 4xl, but sight unseen at distance it's too big a gamble for me. I wish there was somewhere in Beijing I could go and check this stuff out when I'm next out there.

Those who actually make the jackets are on Taobao. Everyone else is a reseller. But in my experience, the jacket you see in pictures from Tailor brando is the jacket you get.
But yes, returning an item is pretty much not possible due to the cost making it not worth it. So you better make sure the jacket measurements make sense for your body. The measurements provided are accurate.

Hi! I wanted to thank you all for this thread. I think it's very useful for those of us looking a more affordably way to get a high-quality jacket with design details faithful to the originals of the era. Does anyone know the quality of Simons jackets in general, and especially this Hercules model? I saw it shared here a few pages back. It's significantly more expensive than most of their other models (about $150-$200 more). I'm trying to decide between that jacket or a Tailor Brando mullholland or half belt due to the great reviews that have been written previously about their quality and customer service

I have the mulholland copy from Simon’s. I like the quality of the horsehide but it is very stiff. I think the satisfaction will really come down to your measurements and how they translate to the shoulder/chest of the jacket. I still wear mine but I do wish the the shoulders were a touch broader just to suit my body shape better.

Hey guys, just found this thread! I just finished a video comparing my Chinese jacket to my Japanese Rainbow Country if anyone’s curious.

Sorry it’s a bit long! I did my best to slim it down… the original cut was over an hour of me rambling

Great review of the jacket. If I didn’t already have a brown leather jacket I love you would convinced me to take chance on the same one you got. Thanks for all the side by side comparisons with your Rainbow Country. A lot of debate of these jackets always seem to include the “you get what you pay for” line but I think a lot of the reason comparisons like this are important is because I really want to know what I’m getting for what I’m paying and choose what I’m willing to live without to obtain something more affordable and still feel satisfied.

Has anyone tried any of the Shearling B3 or B6 style jackets yet? Looking for some feedback on quality and sizing etc

Just wanted to share my experience with Tailor Brando. I had good customer support from Dylan. and I enjoy the jacket. My only other leather jacket is a y'2 single riders jacket and I enjoy wearing both of them about equally. The suede of this jacket feels very nice and smells good. Stitching is good, but not perfect. Hardware feels a little lightweight and low quality.

Just got this Leathertogs repro from Simons Leathers delivered.

I'm kind of blown away with the quality of the jacket. The leather is super supple and smells amazing, and all the stitching and so on are spot on(I LOVE the contrast stitching), if someone told me this was a 1k usd+ jacket I would believe them no questions asked!

The only problem is that the jacket I got sent home don't match the stated measurements on the store site, instead it matches a size up(but can't really be sure as the jacket lacks size tags).

I sent the store I bought it from(YR Clothes factory store) some pictures clearly showing this, but they won't take any responsibly instead giving me a song and dance about how "every body are build different", that it's because of the "thick leather" the measurements are off <- lol and that I "have very strict requirements for sizing"<-- no **** haha, anyway the measurements are off from what I ordered and it doesn't really matter why.

Anyway lesson learned that I should always ask for a picture when they measure it before pulling the trigger to make sure I get what I expect, but this have never been a problem before so I've never had to think about that.

The jacket still fits me okay but I'm a fan on rather tight jackets so this will be my layering-jacket for fall(which I do kind of need as all my other leather jackets are "t-shirt tight").

The only problem is that the store I got it from sent me a size to big, there is no size tag in the jacket but the measurements exactly matches their stated XL instead of the L i ordered, the jacket still fits me okay but I'm a fan on rather tight jackets so if I keep this one it would be my layering-jacket(which I kinda need as all my other leather jackets are "t-shirt tight").

I'm in contact with the seller to see what we can do, as I don't really want to ship it back to China for a return.

TBH I think that fits you really well. Keep in mind if you went a size down you would have tighter shoulders and shorter sleeves. I think proportionally this makes more sense.

Thank mate! and yeah that's true, but in my eyes it looks a bit sloppy in the chest and back area(around the pits) and the length of the body for this size are a bit to long for my liking.

It's not like it's waaay off fit-wise(doesn't look like I stole my dads jacket for example), but still feels a bit ****e not getting the size i actually ordered :p

Very impressed with the jacket itself though there more I look at it, very neat stitching and the leather is easily the best I've ever seen from a Chinese maker(apparently it's horse hide from Poland, and after handling it I can believe it :)).

I think it looks great! Perhaps a bit of room but just seems to be enough for you to be able to have a thin sweater underneath. I wonder if a smaller size wouldn't be too tight instead.

Thanks mate!

I do fit a hoodie/sweater(Buzz Rickson's in this case) under it without it feeling to tight, so it's perfect for that use case.

I'll probably just keep the jacket as a fall-action jacket as I don't really want to spend the cash sending it back(and already payed the cusoms fee so):D

Just curious as I ordered what I guess is the same jacket - what are your measurements? Height and weight etc?
