Just picked up this Filson Tin Cloth hat at a thrift, and it's XL (my size ). Still had the tags on it,so I guess this is one of the 'officially' factory rumpled ones (?). I prefer the smoother look of some models-can anyone tell me how to reform this hat ? Some say use heat, some say soak it in water-both seem to have pos & neg opinions- has anyone here actually tried it on a their oil cloth or tin cloth hat ?
Thanks for the help-John

The stiff cotton duck cloth is impregnating with wax. It doesn't take much to soften the wax. A hair dryer on low will probably do it. But, you then need something to use as a block to push the wrinkles out from the inside. A mixing bowl and towel might work. You could also warm it and put it on your head.

Thanks Shopkin-I like your low impact approach. It's always fun to find Filson at a thrift store, and this one fit my giant head !
