What comfortable pants do you use at home in winter?

I don’t know if it’s the right place to talk about “in-house-pants”…But i have not found a better place sorry.

At home in winter i usually use some sweatpants in cotton or blend of cotton and synthetic…
The last pair that i bought are Made like rubbish and lasted at most 1 season.

So i’m looking for some comfortable and durable pants (i prefer natural material of possibile) to use at home for Smart working but also for relaxing on the sofa, watching tv or reading a book.

What do you use for these kinds of things? Maybe to “steal” some good idea :D

I’ve seen some sweatpants but for the most i don’t like what I found, or it seems really poor quality.

I also thought of something in moleskin or similar, but i don’t know…i’m open to some advice. Thanks!

Don't know where you're located, but I usually buy any somewhat thick and warm sweatpants they have at Decathlon that are cheap. They usually last me 3+ years.

I’m in italy, and have some decathlon store near by. I already have a cheap domyos sweatpant bought there, but it lasted 1 season or a little more. Maybe there are some brand/model that it’s better… i still have it but it fall apart…use it to do some “dirty-job” in garage, like change wheels for the vespa, work on my mountain bike or similar thing when the risk to get dirty with grease is no more a risk but a certainty ahah

I wear these at home all year long, they last a few years and are super comfy.
Only warning is they leak colour in the wash when new, and will dye anything else you have in there.

I have been ordering from this shop for more than a decade, they come straight from Thailand.

There's plenty in Decathlon and they change year to year. Right before the pandemic they had ones that lasted me like 4 years wearing the heck out of them as they were the best fitting and comfortable sweatpants I've ever had. I would had paid 5 times their price to get them again but of course they never had that specific model again and the similar ones weren't as good. I usually buy Domyos in their fitness/gym section, but you can usually find a few more options in other sections such as yoga or football.

Their cheapest ones are extremely thin and look like they'll fall apart just by touching them. I rarely buy any over 25€ though. I don't think even the "good ones" will last long if you're getting them dirty with grease, oils and such, though. The most ******** stuff that dirties mine is bolognese sauce.

Same as I wear casually out, really.... Dickies 874, or jeans (Wrangler 13MWZ mostly), Soldier of Fortune BattleDress denim trousers (which I'm wearing now) or denim dungarees (bib overalls in the US; my current pair are Dickies). As a rule, I wouldn't wear any other than the Dickies into the office. The rest all get worn kicking around the house or if I'm just headed over the road for groceries. Nothing house-exclusive. That said, the dungarees started that way, but quickly began to get worn outside, very casually, as well.

Unless I'm sick in bed, if I'm up and around I'm wearing real pants ( or shorts ) and a belt.

If it's comfortable enough to wear in any context it's comfortable enough for me to wear lounging in my recliner watching YouTube or an old movie.

I too never change pants at home but it is a matter of discipline for me as the most comfortable something that I wear, tends to become the only thing that I wear.

super funny pants, remind me the various trip in thailand and malaysia. it's not what i was thinking for the winter use...
but i like it (and seams super comfy) and now i want a pair of that! for shure in spring/autumn can be my go to, but have to try it also in winter.

have only to find out the shipping cost, because with shipping and taxes i end up to pay at least double the price for that i think. Same story when bought some pants from indonesia (gingersnap, made in Bali... https://gingersnapbali.com really good stuff, first time bought in the main shop in Bali...if you want to take a look)

i know what you mean...decathlon sell a lot of ****...but sometimes they have REALLY good product and then they dismiss it...i have to take a visit in the shop and try some model.

i use my domyos like that only because they are distroyed...originally i've use it only at home to relax...but the cloth is really bad and just sitting on the sofa has break it.

i'll see what they offer now ;) thanks for your suggestion

I tend to that philosophy myself. In truth, were I better organised with my time and in a position to spend much more than I currently can on wardrobe, I'd likely wear a suit most of the time - I'm very comfortable in that. A lot definitely is familiarity.... I didn't own sneakers for maybe twenty years until this last year or two Summers in London got so hot some days I needed canvas shoes, so picked up some old school Vans (I think the model is the 'Authentic' - the first style they've been selling since they opened in 1966, though it' a style that's been around more generally since the turn of the 50s). Still after three years takes me a few minutes to get used to them once on, whereas a well fitting brogue feels like carpet slippers.

I’m usually wearing a pair of jeans around the house to get some extra wear on them.

I’ve only ever owned cheap supermarket sweatpants, but I’ve seen some thick and better looking versions form some of the vintage sellers lately. Maybe you could get something like this, when they restock for the season:

https://bronsonshop.com/products/1950s-20-45-oz-terry-cloth-reverse-weave-sweatpants-apricot

that bronson seams pretty good quality. I don't like the design a lot (especially the curls at the ends) but seems good. The main problem is the taxes/duty for the import...but i take a look at that, when they become available. Thank you!

The dungarees are funny, but i'm not ready to wear it ahah...although for the coldest day i sometimes use a Moroccan wool garment, bought in one of my visit there...super cosy and warm, but definitely strange. It is called djellaba, if you are curious ahah

you are right, but i'm not convinced to use my normal pants/trousers at home because when i cook i end up to stain that and have to wash it more frequently ahah...so i have some cheap sweatpants that i don't care much of. But i understand your point!

Bronson's quality is really quite remarkable for the price. Alas, I'm limited to their accessories for now as they don't supply up to my big-boy sizes.... The largest I've ever seen them do jeans in is a 38" waist, which sadly I don't think I'll ever be again this side of an apocalypse. I'd definitely buy a whole bunch of their stuff if they sized up, though. Jackets too - some lovely stuff there, but all just one to two sizes smaller than I could fit.

Yeah, the dungarees took me a while to feel confident wearing outside - I'd not owned a pair since I turned seven in 1981 at that point... ;-) Remarkable comfy, though. I lived in them after an operation last year when all my other casual trousers required a belt... The Moroccan robe looks interesting. On the flip side, in really hot weather, I've been somewhat tempted to try a similar cut garment in a light cotton - they're common round my part of East London across men of the Bangladeshi diaspora. Most commonly seen when they're off to Friday prayers at the Mosque, though - I've to-date been a little too shy to enquire as to whether given the clothes seem to have that religious connotation here it might be insensitive for me to adopt them. They do look great, though. Another thing I've been tempted to try is Hakama pants.... Though the killer option for me in the heat turns out to be a kilt. Plenty of cool air trapped up in there, works really well.

There is that. I admit that if I'm having dinner off a tray in front of the TV and not gonig out afterwards I will sometimes retreat into pyjamas if there's a sauce involved....

i don't have that size problem, i usually use small (or XS) sizes ahah. I'm keeping an eye on it. Maybe with some discount i can compensate import duties and shipping cost

I'm just wearing my Diamond Gussett jeans which I don't baby, but I could see the point if your pants are pricey or dressy

Ah, yes - if you're in the US currently the new import tariffs are gonig to have to be factored in.

Machine washable is definitely a plus!

I'm from Italy...but we have always had some import duties for items outside European Union...On average 20/25% added to the cost (over certain price)...for cheap items can be 0 to 33%...this is why i higly prefer EU items...

seems a good compromise on quality/price! I have a pair of old lightweight jeans that i can try...maybe too light for winter use, but in front of the fireplace can absolutely work!

I also have some cargo pants that i almost never use but can work with some repair on some seams (it's from the Italian army...an old pair of pants of my father, that nobody uses but i kept)...
fan fact: it has some RIRI zippers on the leg! (with plastic tooth...it's not so smooth at the beginning) I have that pair of pants in the wardrobe for at least 12 years but known RIRI zippers from you mad guys a short time ago ahahah
