This week, I will be launching a new series on my YouTube channel called "Fedora Friday" where I will be covering famous hat movies, music and other aspects of pop culture of your choice. I already have what I think are 4 good hat movie choices and I invite you all to vote for the movie you want to see covered. So far, "Road to Perdition" (2002) is currently in the lead but it is not too late to vote for your choice HERE.
Update: So far, it looks like the original Godfather is still in the lead, I will close the poll at 5pm EST so use the link above to get your last-minute votes in before that!

Today, we go live at 11am EST and step into the shadows of 1940s New York as we kick off "Fedora Friday", a new livestream series celebrating pop culture's most iconic hats. Our first episode dives deep into The Godfather (1972) — where every brim, crease, and crown tells a story. From Michael Corleone’s dark transformation fedora to the legendary black homburg that became the “Godfather hat,” we’ll explore how Coppola used headwear to signal power, tradition, and betrayal. "Leave the ***, take the fedora." Pop in and join the discussion.

Sammy Wells, AKA Charlie Pitts was mortally wounded in Northfield, MN on this date in 1876, as an only-time member of the James-Younger Gang. He would die from his wounds on Sept 21st. Sammy was just a very young boy when his father George Washington Wells, was killed as a spectator to the first Civil War skirmish in Cass County, MO (Lee’s Summitt, MO today). As a very young age Sammy gained the respect of Cole Younger when he sat overnight as guard of the body of John Younger (some say it was the body of Cole’s father) so it could not be desecrated by enemies, a common practice at the time.

Of the two gang members mortally wounded that day both bodies were boxed in crates & sunk in a pond to be de fleshed by fish & time over the winter. Eventually the skeletal remains of Clell Miller was returned to his father Moses Miller.

The last that is known of the skeletal remains of Sammy Wells, AKA Charlie Pitts, he was hanging in the medical office of an MD in Chicago. George Washington Wells, his father, was buried on the farm at the time of his death. Today he is but a single grave located in the common ground of a housing subdivision.

While I applaud your efforts and initiative in producing Hat Chat, it seems to me you should perhaps start your own thread for posting and promoting episodes. As this thread is dedicated to posting pictures of notable individuals wearing hats, these posts are pretty off topic.

My thoughts exactly.
Lukes, you would also have a dedicated chronological history thread of your Hat Talk evolution and not have each episode buried here and even quicker in the WHAYWT etc threads.

Will do, my apologies as I am a little ***-shy about starting new threads. Have a great day!

Dude, you sit in front of a camera, talk about hats, and post it for the world to see on YouTube. You are the antithesis of ***-shy.

Also, I think the FL is the perfect repository for this effort. As Bowen said, all your discussions will be posted in chronological order for easy access and reference. The FL will drive members to your YouTube, and vice versa. It's a win-win.

Thank you! FL is really my "home away from home" so I would love if my channel would help it attract new members.

Understood, my apologies folks!
No need to apologize.
You are just getting respectful direction from loungers that care.
Example:
Personally i’m not gonna wade through ever increasing posts to find “that hat” you discussed on “that day” in whatever thread.

But….i can scroll your dedicated thread and easily find it.
Win Win
Good luck in the endeavor.

Thank you, I will always try to apologize when I feel I may have been in the wrong. I treat people the way I expect to be treated. Old habits die hard.
