Excellent fit! Most people don’t even notice the difference between 80% and 98% fulfilled in terms of meeting some sort of personal preference if there’s a way to measure it. 80% is more than good enough.

Oh so do I! In many ways I think they’re an even more pure and purposeful design than the cross zips. But my particular sickness is that while I admire all kinds of jacket styles and colours on others or on the hanger, I would somehow always rather be wearing a black cross zip…

Both are gorgeous in their own right about the same weight shank he has more depth in my opinion Phantom Black has way more Sheen being that I have the T or Shiki not the finished version that schott carries

This is great, i've been trying to get a better idea of what the phantom is like. I have a project ongoing with JL right now and they will send me some samples with the canvas mock up. I asked about shinki or other leathers but Alan seems to not offer anything except CXL and the phantom in HH right now. I worry about too much sheen..

@X83 has far more experience with JL than me, but from what I understand they don’t supply Shinki. If you want Shinki you would have to source it. There are also varying degrees of Shinki, with special proprietary Shinki being used by The Real McCoy’s, The Flathead and other top tier makers. So the Shinki you might be able to source might not be as high end. Some one more knowledgeable than me might be able to verify this.

JL sent me a sample of their Phantom horseside and it looks really nice! It’s just difficult sometimes for me to picture an entire jacket from just a small sample, but from what I can tell, I think it would make a beautiful jacket and it seems like it would be relatively easy to wear right out of the box.

Wow! That Thedi is gorgeous!! I love a brown mouton collar on a black jacket as well. My wife thinks it looks “countryside”… whatever that means haha

Inspired by an ex-member of the forum who posted an absolutely brilliant 1970's look elsewhere, I figured I'd at least try to improve my game.

1970's wool suit, made in Poland (PRL, at the time). Although, I altered it as much as my skill with a needle and a thread allowed me; I took in the body of the jacket, lengthened the sleeves, narrowed them slightly and turned the cuffs from decorative into surgeon's. Oh, and I added pick-stitching because it is so meditative and relaxing.

Trousers were tough - Had to get rid of the flares without sacrificing the 70's vibe. Narrowed the whole seat, waist, etc. Lengthened them, too. I know they are too long but same as sleeves, I like them that way.

Awesome job mate, looks stunning!
