John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Can highly recommend the rough out version, which was the very most comfortable out of the different leathers I tried.
875 moc toe boots
I had to go with a half size down to get the right fit in them
the iron rangers have been good from the get go for me (a full size down -
I have a pair of rough out Iron Rangers and gave them a going over with walking boot treatment, can't remember which. They aren't exactly rough out now as they have a slight sheen but it avoids all the stains! On the other hand, the stains show they've been around the block a few times...
Red Wing roughout leather is very comfortable. My problem is that it's so hard to care for. At least with my lifestyle. Every little drop of orange chicken sauce, blood, motor oil, vomit....... soaks in and I can never get it out. I've tried suede shampoo, wire brushes, etc. The roughout side of the leather just isn't like the grain side.
I used those for work for years. Good boot.My latest Red Wing. Not a Heritage model. A work boot. A shoe that you can go to work in. A shoe that is tough enough to wear at the dishwashing station of Panda Express. Grease, sludge, food waste, heat, steam, standing water, chemicals.......... And I wanted a boot that I could ride a motorcycle with. Rigid and surefooted enough to come to a stop on a Harley, plant both feet on the pavement, and feel stable.
Good or bad. Right or wrong. I chose this boot because it was on sale. Not every Red Wing has to be a Heritage model. It's Made In USA. And resoleable. There are advantages to the synthetic technologies. Softer step. Easier to break in. More resistant to corrosive agents. Synthetics which are more durable and won't rot or corrode like leather and cork. This is the shoe that I want when I have to work on plumbing, perform auto maintenance, or step into barnyard muck. With this boot, I can scrub it and hose it off. The SuperSole is direct attached to the PVC welt, which means that no water is going to leak through delaminating glue and loose stitches.
