The absolute thickest/heaviest clothes in their class for each kind of clothes

So, I'm new both to this website and to high end men's fashion in general.

It's recent occurred to me that I personally think that a lot of the value of things like Selvedge Denim, leather jackets, etc is durability. I was as a kid and continue to be rough on my clothes. As such, I'm drawn to the absolute thickest examples of clothes possible.

For example with Denim, the 40 oz Naked and Famous jeans are on my wishlist, and I just purchased the Soso 33 oz "TBOL" (the breaker of legs) jeans and a "TBOA" (the breaker of arms) jacket. I'm waiting on them to arrive but I am excited just because of the wow factor/conversation piece nature of it, and their rarity.

With buying Selvedge Denim, it's extremely easy to know the thickness of a product. With a lot of other clothes purchases, it's quite difficult to know what is best in class.

As such, I want this thread to serve as a sort of "hub" and maybe eventually stickied post where we list the absolute thickest and heaviest piece of clothing in every class.

For T-shirts, I think it's between the Everest from American Giant and that Triple Heavyweight from Wonderlooper. I think Bronsen needs an honorable mention for cheap *** weight to price ratio (~10 oz for around 20-30 USD and some are psudo-loopwheel)

For Leather Jackets, I'm not sure - I own a very thick and heavy Schott Red Perfecto, and some pretty heavy Y2/Double Helix jackets, but I can't really say confidentially that I know if I've found the heaviest/thickest. Additionally, I think this section should be broken down by leather type (i.e. goatskin vs horsehide) and maybe even color?

For Belts: No idea, I bought a few from Brave Star Selvedge that I feel are a lot thicker than my local shops are at a good price, but I don't think they're the best

For Wallets: Needs breakdown by Leather type, and and my only hunch is that it's probably (hopefully?) made in japan.

For Watch Bands: Who the heck knows? They're probably on etsy?

For Waxed Cotton: Seems to be a dual between Ship John and Tin Duck Denim both at 24 oz for their jackets with optional extra lining.

For Boots: I think it's the PNW boot brands, i.e. Franks, Whites, or Nicks. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I've avoided buying boots from brands I'd really love to try on this principle. (needs breakdown by Leather type)

Please let me know if I am mistaken and I will update this, and please include things for each section and evidence to support your assertions.

Hopefully folks are interested in this!

I'm very interested in this breakdown for Sneakers (both luxury and sneakerhead nike stuff), Boat Shoes/Loafers, Dress Shoes.

My understanding is that for jackets generally it’s going to be a high quality cow hide like cxl steer. I think that can come in up to 1.7 mm for an aero jacket. That’s probably the top end of the spectrum for jackets. HH is generally thinner and is going to come in between 1.1 and 1.3/4 max.

Just because its thicker doesnt make it better. I have a vanson wallet thats pretty thick and it almost never goes in my back pocket where it should. It hurts my back if i sit on it too long. I talked to the owner of a well known brand a good while back and she said its not the thickness of the leather that makes it stronger, its the top layer that holds it all together. If they need a stronger area they dont just use thicker leather they use multiple top layers because if youre sliding down the road once youre through the top layer you go through the rest very quickly comparatively.

I’m wary of posts with a lot of bolded words like the OP as AI-generated. At the same time, AI doesn’t write “Who the heck knows?” so it might be edited after the fact by a human to add some flares.

It seems like a new account made to advertise a certain brands. I reported it.

i like heavyweight stuff, but thicker doesn’t translate in more quality.

For example cxl sh or heavy csx hh are awesome leathers…but the thinner Badalassi (just to make an example) to me (for sure is also subjective) is visibly more premium and better quality. And i like a lot the cxl especially in brown…

There is good leather and bad leather, not depending on thickness. My first (and only, before this summer) leather jacket is paper thin…But despite the low quality (is cheap but full grain) and the 15+ years of use is like new (lining aside).

That said, i’m curious.

For the boots i don’t know much, but my trusted boots maker can make super heavyduty boots with multiple layer of 4mm veg tan leather for extreme environment…and i’m sure that a lot of makers can do this if you want :)

Well most of the ultra heavy stuff I just listed is backordered months in

I hand wrote all of this and I did not use any type of AI. I'm not a bot.

Also, would really rather people respond with examples of the thickest X instead of boomer "actually thickness is not quality" nonsense. If I believed that I wouldn't be asking for the thickest examples of things.

thickness does not equal quality.

Glad to know that the leather jacket crowd is as ******* as they look. Rather than just ignore a thread they don't agree with, they actively try to argue and **** the thread up. Clearly this is the wrong place to look for an answer to the question of "Where do I get the thickest clothing possible".

As a fan of heavy denim (wearing 25oz daily) I'd be curious to know how that works out.

I have both Soso 33oz and N&F 32oz in black, discussed with @NamoAmituofo, who owns Soso 33oz also, in the following linked thread. Honestly, thick denim feels like wearing carpet, but I love them both and enjoy wearing thick denim. What I like about them most is how warm they are; they are my winter jeans. I don’t like layering, just one pair of undies and one pair of jeans. The current world’s thickest pair of jeans is N&F 40oz, which I couldn’t afford. I have, but don’t want to part with, $1600-$2000 for a pair of jeans. 32-33oz are plenty heavy for me. Actually, N&F 33oz was unsanforized, so after soaking, its true weight is closer to around 35-36oz.

On leather jacket, @steelbahamut custom-ordered 6oz from JL. Jacket clocks 9.88 lbs.

Good to know that I am as dickish as I look.
I was also got caught in the trend that anything thicker is better. I own my share of thick CXL FQHH and 25oz denim.
But your claim that durability means thicker hides or fabrics is not true. At least for normal use. If you are a welder or a carpenter then it's a different case. But then I would advise real safety workwear.
