USPS Ground Advantage Gripes

Well that would make sense... but I have a priority package coming from Bob that took 3 days to go from Springfield Mo to Kansas City because USPS sent it to Washington DC first.

Apparently my former hats like to take the scenic route. This is Priority Mail.

I feel your pain. I put a hat in the mail on 10/14 (Priority) and until this morning, there have been no updates. Got a notification this morning that it is finally out for delivery. Nine days to go one state over!!! I paid extra for Priority and USPS still dropped the ball!

The USPS isn't the only delivery service that is experiencing this kind of package handeling, I have had the same experience with FedEx.
I started adding full insurance coverage to my hat shipments & they make sure that my packages get delivered fast without detours, plus I add a copy of the shipping label to the inside of the package, a letter to my customer & a packing slip, every document has the customers name and address plus my return address, the other change that I made is, my shipping label does not have Busted Hats listed any where on the box.
The boxes are lite weight, no business name, full insurance with extra to cover any grief that the USPS might cause me. It cost a little more for the insurance, but it is well worth it, so far they have not lost any more of my packages, knock on wood.
I have noticed that when a package goes through GA, it can be a surprise when it is shipped out to the right address, Atlanta, GA is the USPS lost & undeliverable package location, if the package lands in that area & doesn't show up again, the package could stay there for a month before it is back on the road again.
I contacted my Congressman, the US Post Master in Washington, the Post Master in CA and the Post Master in GA, funny how my lost package showed up in tracking again and was delivered.

I had a hat mailed to me in Canada from Florida. 7 years of mailing hundreds of hats and receiving hundreds of shipments, zero problems. Well this $500 hat was lost but neither USPS or Canada Post would admit where or who lost it. Mailed to me in early August I had given up hope but Wed last week the hat arrived on my doorstop. The box was pristine, no signs of any damage or wear. I am considering myself fortunate they didn't deem to charge me storage for the nearly 3 months they held it.

So basically not one package lost in 7 years. Pretty good deal?

Well…last night my USPS guy was delivering at 8:30p by flashlight!
Maybe the IG got the @Darrell2688 messages.
Maybe Pete told the IG to **** it up and get it done or be done.
Or maybe the guy just got back from Seattle?
Checks in the mail TBC.

Your hat must have been in the Atlanta GA lost mail area, if it gets to that storage area, it may take 3 months before anyone even looks at it.

Yes, hell of a record and I am talking maybe 1000 parcels -incoming and outgoing. I made the decision at the beginning to roll the dice and self insure, (that is no extra insurance. ) I have had incoming packages lost by UPS & FedEx but none ever by USPS. I am a fan...except for Canada Post going on strike.

You may not remember this, Robert, but I mailed a hat to you in June of 2023 for some restoration work. It was lost somewhere along the way. I made several trips to my local post office and they were no help to me in locating it, so I gave up and chalked it up to a loss. Lo and behold, a year and a half later the hat miraculously showed back up at my house. The box was beat to hell and back and crushed. I opened it up and the hat looked like a wadded up piece of paper. I still have it and maybe one day I'll do something with it. In it's current condition, the original scope of work would need a major overhaul. Overall, I'm just amazed it made it back to me after being lost in transit for a year and a half.....

I've got a couple (sent to me) that I'm hoping show up mysteriously one day. Time is running out, however, since we're selling the house soon.

I can recall only one time UPS ever lost a package that was coming to me. But for FedEx and USPS losing packages was a regular occurrence. Based on the conditions of the packages when they finally arrived, I'd say the delivery delays are caused by the employees taking their breaks and playing soccer with those packages.
