Today’s star is the Beachwood backpack from Hennwood Leather. It’s made from a combo of Horween Dublin and Derby, W&C Russett, and Hermann Oak English Bridle straps. It is absolutely lovely and very comfortable to wear even if it’s fully packed. Other than that, I’m donning a Rainbow Country 1940s Car Coat in bison and Iron Boots Iron Monsters in anise kudu.

Too cold for a short jacket in London this weekend...

Winter Flaneur 1.jpg

Soldier of Fortune reproduction of the short-lived 1939 pattern British Army issue great coat. This design, first issued immediately before the outbreak of war, replaced the single-breasted WW1 era coat. Lovely length to it: reaches past the knees, to mid calf. Quickly replaced by the shorter 1940 pattern (knee-length, and with an added box pleat down the back to allow for webbing to be worn underneath, rather than over, the coat) when the length of this one proved somewhat a liability on the beach at Dunkirk. Came with General Service buttons, which I have replaced with civilian alternatives.

Wow! A fashion show all in one outfit - so nice to see such a pulled together look. Even your K-Nine companion is decked out!

I've seen some of the Youtube videos where upper tier people (Monaco, Paris, Milan, London, etc) are strutting the streets in the latest designer garb but classic style (such as yours) has them all beat.

My first and lasting thought was “excellent”.

Thank-you both, very kind. Sunday was the latest Chap Flaneur, the Saunter sans purpose, as it's typically billed - hence making a big effort. The sixth such event, and the first to be held in the cooler months. Traditionally a May event; the idea for the Winter one being to give all a chance to wear the Winter coats and such items that normally can't be managed in May. There were about 150 or so of us started at Jermyn Street under the statue of Beau Brummel at noon, and meandered across town for the afternoon, via Covent Garden and the West End, ending up near the British Museum. Bertie rather enjoys his clothes. We've not gotten him into tweed yet, but he's a fan of his denim and his hoodies... He did earlier in the day have on a little red beret (his 'Sensible' hat; our boy's got the punk attitude), but it had been pocketed by this point. His first big day out and about in the West End at its busiest, and he did very well. He also slept extremely well that night after covering quite a lot of ground on foot! Everything I'm wearing is modern repro, though I'm particularly chuffed with the coat's transformation with the switch to civilian buttons.

Excuse me if wrong section guys, as I will be wearing, but I had the knits done on my beloved 50s Sears Hercules Horsehide Jacket, knits garnet brown from Mash Japan, and sewn here by a old Chinese guy I've used for years own a haberdashery and repair shop, the old knits I held off for a while but they were stretched out, pulled, and the skirt been stretched never kept wind from up your back, anyway, happy bunny here :)

What an excellent event!

Just got back from a week in NYC with the fam. It was nice to visit somewhere with legit ‘leather jacket weather’, though I found myself eager to take it off every time we sat down somewhere indoors. Probably a combination of the slimmer fit and my comfort level wearing anything more than a t-shirt or collared shirt.
