Up for sale we have a stand out piece from my personal collection - an excellent condition circa 1950 Guidemaster Wolf horsehide motorcycle jacket based out of Boston, MA. This jacket is a perfect encapsulation of mid-century American motorcycle/aviation garmenting and meets at the intersection of function and beauty. This has always been one of my favorite jackets I've owned. I've made some purchases recently and it's time to let this one go.

Company Info:

Not all too much information on the Wolf Outerwear Company beginnings, as is typical of these smaller regional maker. It appears the company was founded by Harry Wolf somewhere around 1950 and was located on Tremont Street in Boston.

The jacket:

Firstly, the jacket is in overall excellent condition - about as good as you can get for this era. Extremely clean deep blue wool lining, all original zippers, snaps work without fault. The leather is out of the world and is in outstanding condition. Clearly worn sparingly and stored perfectly all these years. Missing like one teeth on the sleeve but it works without fault. The hand warmer pocket pulls are missing, but i do have one included in one pocket.

Unbelievable attention to detail and amazing craftsmanship on display here - chinstrap/storm flap closure, heavy duty snap button belt, amazing longer and straight cut, single panel leather back. Just an amazing mid-century American jacket.

The jacket has many lifetimes ahead of it - it feels as solid as you can get when worn.

Please see photos for measurements, taken to the best of my ability.

Approximately (please allow a small degree of discrepancy due to human error);

Armpit to armpit: 20"
Shoulder to shoulder: 18.25"
Sleeve length: 24."
Hem: 17.75"
Length from bottom of collar: 25" (back) 26" (front)

Please note that as this is a true vintage item, indications of wear should be expected. Any damage would be exhibited.

Price is $550 Shipped quickly upon payment, zelle or paypal friends and family. Please note that I am not a professional clothier but do have significant experience in research and handling of mid-20th century American motorcycle garments. The opinions written are my own based on this experience.

If you have any questions at all about this jacket, please reach out.

That’s a beauty. Love the mid century styling. Simple motorcycle details. My touch point for that is the Indian Ranger. I had Field Leathers make me a custom piece with some IR inspiration.

This one seems really close to my size. Tempting. But the shoulders are big and the length might be too long. And I just bought a jacket so I have to talk myself out of it.
