Chinese leather jackets

I like to equate a lot of the current Chinese manufacturers (of any product) to Japanese automakers from the 60s-80s. Were they as well made or sought after as the main American or European brands? No, but they were still alternatives for more economical reasons. Did they eventually get equal to and even surpass those same makers in time? Yes, they did. And China can do the same thing, eventually, possibly.

Good things can come from China, no doubt. But I don’t think you can or should expect a jacket costing $300 to be the same level as one costing 5x that amount. So for that, there really is no reason to compare them.

I personally wouldn’t pay $100 for a Chinese off the rack knock off. The price to me seems exceedingly high, given what’s being offered.

The point is it feels like and sure seems like to some of us (opinion obviously) that we are able to get close to Porsche quality and finish for Nissan prices and that is very exciting for a lot of us and we want to let others know about it. This I believe is the whole point of this thread…
That just means you don’t understand “porsche quality.”
Not saying it doesnt mean you shouldn’t enjoy your “nissan.”
Best bet is to buy a used F150 (vanson.)

I don’t see how you can make that claim when I own several proverbial “Porsche” jackets already. Also have had Vansons in the past and the two jackets I have purchased are way nicer in my opinion.

The quality is pretty amazing just take a look, also the high end Japanese jackets are just knock offs of British and American jackets as well but I can tell there is no convincing you! Lol

The “reason” I posted in this thread in the first place was to share that in my opinion you CAN get the 5X quality jacket (or extremely close) for the $400 price that is the whole reason to compare and the point of this thread. I get people disagreeing with the opinion but I don’t understand why they are trying to shut down others sharing or trying to invalidate their experiences.

I see massive puckering.

lol! Yes pay $2500 more and “potentially” get zero puckering!! Such a none issue for someone who actually plans on wearing the jacket for years. I’ll post some pictures of my $3K Japanese jackets and you can tear them apart as well, there are “issues” like this with them as well. In fact one had the zipper fail, which was actually a REAL issue. Also had stitching come apart. I stand by my appraisal and put this jacket up against the others any day of the week.

No need to get upset.

The puckering is not a sign of sloppiness or that the jacket was hastily put together, it's a sign that the manufacturer doesn't understand leather jacket construction techniques.

Edit: typo

Not upset I just think it’s funny. For people who don’t understand leather jacket construction they sure do a hell of a job in my opinion.

It's not much help claiming that said jacket is just as good as x y or z while you clearly do not have the eye to properly assess the quality of a leather jacket.

Well the guy who posted about the jacket he purchased on this thread sure helped me with my purchase and I’m thrilled with it. I’m just trying to pay it forward to others with an honest assessment from a fairly avid collector but admittedly not a maker. I stand by my assessment, insane value and quality for the price when compared. I’ll leave it to you to have the last word.

I wouldn't stress over it. I think people are just a little suspect from a dozen or so new accounts appearing all in a couple of days and all eulogising one brand/seller in this thread. Given how quiet the forum seems these days it just kind of stands out. (As maybe do some of the photos where a couple of the posters seem to live in leather workshops.)

The jacket looks good to me and I'm glad you're happy with it.

I would hope though, given these kind of jackets seems to have doubled or trebled in price from when I dabbled in Chinese jackets two or three years ago, that they would have improved the quality of the materials and the finish because for me that was the let down, that and not being able to return things if the fit didn't work out... and then the associated lack of resale value.

Thanks! Ya I felt like I was taking a serious flyer buying one and was expecting to be out $400 so when it came and I was blown away I was excited to share.
