Aero Highwayman Alternatives / How to get deals on used Aeros?

Aero Leather jackets certainly are more plentiful on eBay UK, however over the past 2-3 months the Buy It Now or starting prices appear to have gone up a lot. I assume this is partly due to Aero increasing their own prices but even so some of those jackets being re-sold on eBay are very optimistically priced.
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will all sell for similarly high prices but there has been a noticeable an increase in final sale values.

Interesting!
On an unrelated note I'm really impressed that this thread has remained somewhat active for a month now, hats off to this forum and its members :D

I have some highwaymen if you want - i have about 5 Or 6, three of which are in Connolly leather. I think the fit will work if the the premier 46 was ok. Also loads about 4 half belts! Only issue is i am in UK.

evcn05,

I have a very good size 42 A2 by Cooper, it may suit you. I'm in the UK, I've sent you a personal message with my email address.
All the best in your quest, Rob

Just wait and look here. There are many decent members who don’t price gouge. One will pop up eventually and the members here are too notch with measurements and helping you work out if it’ll fit.

It's hard because sizing can vary so much, but my chest is a tad over 42 when measured and I usually like jackets a little looser so I'm looking at a Aero size 42 and maybe even 44 depending on what the garment measurements are. I know the consensus is to size down (some people even size down 4 inches!) on Aero but that really didn't work for me.

For reference I'm around 5'11, 200 lbs and wear a size 42 jacket and 36 pant usually.

I have a Premier Halfbelt in size 44 in brown CXL FQHH that I am not really wearing anymore. I can do a photo tomorrow, and you let me know if you’re interested.

The premier line wears on size smaller than Aeros 1930’s cut and two sizes smaller than their 1950’s models.

The chest on the PHB would be ca. 23,5”.

I would be interested in pics, measurements and price of this.

Hey all,

I recently have gotten bit by the leather jacket bug, and I keep frantically searching eBay and Grailed listings for used Aeros, specifically Highwayman and other similarly styled jackets. I actually ended up finding a used Montgomery for a steal, however it was a size 40, which didn't give me a tremendous amount of chest relief, and was so short that if I took a deep breath and arched my chest, it would rise to above navel level, so not great.

This has led me into an impasse, though because all of the remaining listings (especially on eBay) seem to be either A) Ridiculously overpriced (often <$300-400 less than new for jackets with cracking leather, torn liners, etc.) or B) Way to small.

So, dedicated leather-jacket enthusiasts, what brands brands would you recommend as alternatives, or how would you recommend finding deals for Aeros?

I have so far looked at many other brands (Langlitz, Schott, Bates, etc.), however many of them only have used stock of café-racer style jackets (which I don't love due to a lack of collar) or A-2 style jackets, which I don't love due to the silhouette and I can imagine being them being too warm for all but the coldest months of my Southern US climate.

Thanks for any advice!
Get yourself a Crush on Retro version. Very very good quality/workmanship for the price.
