I recently found this 1899 self-portrait of Edward Curtis, the famous photographer of American Indians. I've never seen a hat quite like it, but I want one.

If you are talking about the pic below you will probably have to convert something.

Look for a hat with a rounded open crown. You can always trim the width of the brim to whatever you think appropriate. I wanted a hat similar to what a guerrilla rebel might have worn. This hat was a Thoroughbred 10X "Derby".
