Just my thoughts on this Wolfeman...

I'm now 43 years old and have grown out of tons of fantastic vintage clothes since my teens and I don't mean around my middle. I'm still slim but have just got bigger all over my upper body and over the years have had to let go way too many favourite vintage shirts and jackets.
You may well find the same so as already mentioned I'd store that jacket away for now and it'll fit given time.
If you take RT2RCT up on the generous offer of one of his A-2's please update this thread or start a new one and let us all see how it looks...

I've shrunk leather jackets by wetting them and drying them in the sun. But an unintended consequence in one instance is that the acetate lining in one of them did not shrink at all. The leather now fits nicely, but the lining sticks out below the cuffs and I have to keep tucking it in. It also droops below the hem sometimes. Looks goofy.

I'm certainly planning on it, as soon as i figure out this private message problem

To send 442RCT a Private Message simply click on his user name shewn in orange to the left of any of his posts. A pull-down menu will appear. Click on the Send Private Message option.

That's a wonderful gesture he has made & an offer I'd take him up on if I were you. Leaves me feeling somewhat heartened that there are people in the World who show this kind of generosity to others with nothing to gain aside from feeling good at helping someone else out. 44RCT you are a real Gent & I applaud you :eusa_clap

I have indeed taken him up on his offer, and would like to thank him once more. I'll do a new thread once the jacket arrives to show how its fits. And again, thanks!

Wolfe's thank you note

In case some of you were wondering about Wolfe and his new/used jacket, he PM'd me when he received the jacket to thank me. I don't know what's happened to him since. [huh] Spring break's over and he may have had to go back to school.

I got the jacket and have been wearing it since i got it, it fits well and i like it a lot. However, there was a receipt from a tire store in the inside pocket. I was wondering if you need this back, or if i should just destroy it. Date on it it 4/5/05. Will be posting pictures soon.

Wolfe posted today in another thread. He needs to get us the photographs of his jacket and tell us what he learned from the assignment you gave him.

Hi Pea .... the lad followed instructions well and posted on 442d in the WW2 thread a while ago. It has probably fallen off the bottom of the page now but deserves a bump ;)

I've had fair results shrinking a US Authentic A-2 HH somewhat, not nearly a full size though. Washed on machine delicate cycle with hot water and dried in the Arizona sun, about 105F. Took 3/4" off chest and 3/8" off sleeve length but nothing off of body length. Also made some serious grain pop.

Best of luck with it!
How is that jacket now? Still slim? I've one size 42, and I'm thinking doing the HWT too.

Well, we have now been waiting over 7 years now with no fit photos. I remember when this thread was started and wondering if we would ever see resolution. I guess not. So, Wolfeman, wherever you are, we are still waiting for the photos.
