Orvis sells some lapelled waistcoats in a variety of flavours, mostly tweedy. i have one and really like it. the quality is i think superior to the sites you mentioned, although they have a tendency to run a bit on the generous side.

i have a herringbone weave linen suit from brooks bros and the jacket has similiar details, with the belted back and the gusseted(?) shoulders. it must have been a phase they were going through recently. great looking jacket, and you wear it well. i'd dearly love to find a proper harris tweed suit.

it would make a nice photographic prop for a vintage family photo shoot, but the children i know don't really care too much about vintage clothes, they just want to get out and do stuff.
