I just ordered a m-51 from USWings. I didn't know that this business was run by a Vietnam vet, it's amazing. I thought it was a bigger company. Only problem ordering overseas is the shipping costs from Ohio. Otherwise it's a cool shop :cool:
The Moore Custom guy collects G-1s from 422a spec to 7823D (early versions). 7823 A - B or C are all delightful, even luxurius. In the early 1970s, second batch of 7823D collars started to be synthetic. And since 7823E, overall quality went down and down.
I own a Cockpit G-1 "Mil spec", this...
You can cut them and make a detachable vest. Check this arrangement in a Cockpit leather b-15;
A warning about m-65 liner. The m-65 was an "extendend cold weather" system and it works. A real m-65 + liner is a sauna. You'd better have cold weather there.
I do plan to eviscerate a 7823C G-1 :D. I'm willing to replace all knits, lining and fur from collar. I just haven't found the perfect victim yet to perpetrate my crime.

Seb and Smithy, I can feel your pain. I never get used to hot weather either.
BTW, what's the "thermal sensation" in New York and above? Maine, Quebec, Newfoundland...? Colder than the real temperature?
A police badge shaped velcro still looks horrible on a jacket, even if "current issue" has them. None of the Cockpit A-2s have velcros in their current line.
I have 3 of their G-1s but haven't tried any of their A-2, therefore I can't provide an educated opinion.
Cockpit G-1s are very plain...
