    Other Types of Leather Jackets

Very cool jacket, Scary Mc. So, not vintage but I think anyone here can appreciate excellent workmanship. I'd like to see yours if you get a chance to send a pic. Fatdutchman: I agree, George's jacket sure looks vintage 30's. Just wondered if anyone had some extra insight. Red's is also a...

    Other Types of Leather Jackets

Yes, there are some interesting styles out there born of function, necessity. Those police motorcycle jackets are pretty cool and yeah, they do look heavy. Have you checked out classicjackets.com? (I believe that's the website) I was just surfing around the other day and discovered it, They've...

    Other Types of Leather Jackets

Howdy Friends, Been a while since I stepped into The Lounge. Mea culpa, mea culpa. So, I've been perusing the wonderful world of leather jackets for the past year and have a couple of questions: "Cafe Racers" ...while perhaps not vintage, who can clue me in to the basis for this style...

Flying Tigers Jackets from the 1942 film

Very cool discussion on the AVG. I watched "The Flying Tigers" a couple of months ago, courtesy of netflix, and noticed some of the same things in wardrobe. Still, classic John Wayne and it's an interesting film historically in spite of its flaws.

McQueen A2 jacket in Great Escape

Interesting you should point that out, Alan. As I watched the film, I couldn't help but think, those German POW officers/soldiers are WAY too polite. But then, why let reality get in the way of telling a great story?

    Aero Bronco A-2 (pics)

McQueen A2 jacket in Great Escape

Bad Influence? Aaaagh! You guys are having way too much effect on me. ...so I'm in the grocery store yesterday and as I'm heading for the check-out, there's a display full of DVDs and what do you suppose jumps out at me? The Great Escape, of course. I took it as a sign from God and had to...

Rank and Patches on Military Jackets - Might I Offend a Veteran?

Like-minded! I'm glad you posted your concerns, Scotrace. I've had the same thoughts myself as I search through various manufacturers/sources of A-2s and G-1's. Personally, I'm fascinated with the whole Flying Tigers story but I certainly have my doubts about wearing an accurate reproduction...

    Russet colored A-2's

Appreciate the advice Thanks, falco & grant. Yeah, I've been perusing ebay for over a week now and have seen quite a few 7823 series in my size (40-42). I'm really holding out for one with a real mouton collar but I realize that's not always a guaranteed feature. I think I may have blown...

    Russet colored A-2's

Many Thanks Sure appreciate the information, Doc Strange. One more piece in the puzzle, so to speak. And Grant, I must say that is one fine jacket! From what I've seen of RMNZ, they are the finest. Maybe I'll get one someday; right now, I'm searching for a decent 50's or 60's Military G1...

    Russet colored A-2's

Jerky Hide? Hate to appear so naive guys but just what does "jerky" mean in reference to hides? Also, I can't help but notice that U.S. Wings is conspicuously absent from almost all discussions. Are they really that inferior? Again, pardon my ignorance.
