    Berets, Anyone?

I live in G.B. for my sins, I had an abiding need years ago to wear a Fedora hat. After a while of banging on about it, I purchased one in Dark Green, I still wear it amongst all the other ones I now own. For some reason that I cannot fathom, I recently desired a beret. Not having too much cash...

    Favorite Historic Buildings or Places

Not so much a real building per se, but the catacombs under Paris are stunning. 6 Million people are boned there in a Ossuary. Fascinating piece of 1700's history...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

'Mildred Pierce' with Joan the Crawford. I had never seen it before last night and isn't it a doozy...?? You could see the ending way before it happened, but still a well made film nonetheless... !!

A new Avro Lancaster restoration - to FLYING condition!

'Just Jane' is a few miles from where I live, not far from Coningsby where the Memorial Flight Lancaster 'City of Lincoln' resides. I have seen the 'Just Jane' plane many times when we go for a memorial Motorbike club ride there. She had four engines alright, but one was not the correct type...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Last night I ploughed through 'Anne of the Thousand Days' with Genevieve Bujold and Richard Burton amongst others. A quite good film from 1970 all about Anne Boleyn and Henry V111. A sordid story really.!

    What's for Dinner?

Cater for myself tonight, a pan of wholemeal spahetti, a tin of Smoked mackerel chopped up a mite, a unhealthy dollop of Jalapeno Tabasco, a little smidgin of Dark Soy Sauce and mix..... a firm favorite of mine..!!

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

This plane first caught my eye in one of those serials from the 30's entitled 'The Perils of Pauline'. I guess they used all available footage of the plane within the films. Some fifteen or so years before Hugh's 'Spruce Goose' or Hercules 1..

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

For sheer ingenuity, this tiny little plane with twelve engines fits the bill for me...

I cannot remember much these days, but I smell rather tasty of urine and biscuits.... !!

Where can I find this style of hat??

The Scarecrow Hat. For some weirdly apparent reason, a very good friend of mine has grown an all encompassing obsession with Scandinavian marine engines, usually old ones, but a nonetheless a bit unique to these parts. He watches various clips on the 'web' and indulges himself as much as he can...

    Lady Murderess in a fedora.

There was a film, possibly 1940's in which, during the last scenes, a female wearing a raincoat and a Fedora hat, attempts to kill someone with a knife. A hand grasps her arm and the hat is removed or falls off, her blonde hair cascades down. That image just sticks in my memory and I haven't a...

    Matches and Lucifers..

Well thanks a lot guys for all the answers, if I recall correctly Eastwood flares one up in a film by striking it on his pants leg and that baffled the deuce out of me, I wore out jean legs trying to look tough and gave birth to the HOTPANT myth... !!! Strike anywhere matches, that name...

    Matches and Lucifers..

As far as I know, we over in Gt. Britain have no match like those shown in earlyish films from America. I was watching the film 'Double Indemnity' tonight. The Barbara Stanwyck version and throughout the film, there are scenes where cigarettes and cigars are lit by a match, ignited by a simple...

    Mrs. Miniver?

Although Greer Garson was good in the film, as were all the cast, it was simply a filmic take on the stout yeomanry of Britain. It has fear, pathos, excitement etc etc, all the hallmarks of a decent 'war' film. The same could be said of 'Went The Day Well' and others of the ilk. It certainly...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Christmas Eve afternoon, all done around me in the house, the wifely woman was out visiting friends of hers, I sat down and watched for the very first time the very old, silent film 'The Penalty' with Lon Chaney Snr. Absolutely brilliant, a total pleasure to view.... a favorite now... !!
