Just completed this one. Getting better with each of these that I paint and thoroughly enjoying the process. Got this nice Avirex off Marketplace. Painted it to represent a fighter pilot with the 487th Fighter Squadron of the 357th Fighter Group flying "Two Dollar Pistol". Probably a P-51...
If anyone can ID the relative date of manufacture and manufacturer of this jacket I'd much appreciate it. There are no tags or other markings on it. It does have a good bit of age but is in great shape. Like I said, I'm thinking . . . 1970's - 1980's?
Also, is this goatskin? It is pebbled...
I've found that the drop shading is essential to making the lettering on these jackets (literally) stand out.
The more I think about it though, the more I feel like I need to "fix" this jacket. I initially painted the patch a couple of years ago and had it sewn onto the jacket. Then I...
I recently finished painting this jacket. I've painted it to represent a P-47 Thunderbolt fighter pilot from the 53rd Fighter Squadron, 36th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force.
Now, I know . . . I probably should have painted up a Navy squadron because I believe this is technically a Navy G-1...
Here's an 80's vintage jacket that I picked up a few months ago. I put a USS Tarawa stencil on back and a USMC HMLA-367 attack helicopter squadron patch up front. This squadron served aboard the Tarawa for awhile in the 80's & 90's, although the patch is an earlier example from the late 60's -...
So I've requested a refund from "Flapcup". I expect to get the runaround . . . if they even bother to respond.
Will update as new $#*T comes to light.
Will probably file a chargeback on it.
As someone else mentioned, these companies steal photos to represent their products. This happened to me as well. Years ago I sold a pair of fantastic WW2 Corcoran jump boots online (they went to a museum in Belgium). Last year I saw my photo being used to shill a pair of fake boots from one...
So, I'm always looking for new things to sell in my shop and these goofy Chinese company ads are always making their way across my Facebook / Instagram feeds. The low low prices are almost as ridiculous as the names. (Flapcup.com? I should have known.) Every now and then I'll take a chance...
Thanks Will. I don't speak, nor read, German. Wouldn't know where to begin with. Not being familiar with the language, I couldn't make out the text on that tag.
Running your text through Uncle Google did the trick.
"January 1970 are the companies VEB "Nikator" leather and sports clothing...
Still trying to ID this coat. Any ideas? It is very, very nice leather. butter soft. Any ideas? It is very, very nice leather. butter soft. Not sure if I'm keeping or selling. Think I may hold on to it for this year & let it go next year. Fits perfect.
Just found a fantastic grey leather German trench coat. It appears to be military or police issue. I’d guess 1950s to 1970s? Very nice gray leather. Soft and clean with little wear.
I’m having trouble finding the manufacturer & hoping someone can ID the label.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
